Hi guys, im a newbie to the civic forums, I have previously owned 2 ek's, a red facelift 1.4 and an EBP Facelift coupe D16Z6 Turbo, but never bothered joining.

Was at the linwood meet and yous all seemed a nice bunch so thought I would join up and build my progress thread.

My old ej9:

My Turbo'd coupe

My lastest car was a 1.4 16v converted white 6n polo that I bought with a horrible kit and blue rear lights lol.

Which after a few very simple basic changes it ended up looking a lot more acceptable.

Anyways I bought this Thunder Grey ej9 back in March for £400 plus an ipad 1. I had been looking for this colour for a while as I haven't seen many of these around my area.
It was completely standard with 127k on the clock, 2 previous owners and 16 Honda stamps in the service history, one for every year.

After about I week I bought my first mod, a set of mini one alloys in white, I didn't think they suited it but were a bargain at £50 with 4 great Pirelli tyres.

So after realising these just looked stupid I sold them on for £100 and got a set of rota grid reps for £40 and got given a set of coilover sleeves.

Again I didn't think these suited it so they were sold on for £80 and rolled on the standard 13's for a while.

After waiting 2 weeks for a cheap set of alloys these came up on gumtree for £50. I didn't know the brand or anything, I just tried them on and thought they suited it so I was happy, they were very lightweight too. I also tilted the spoiler.

Next up was to get rid of the old and tired plates for fresh import ones.

I picked up a laguna splitter to add the front, my original idea was to fit ek9 splitters but the car is run quite low and the ek9 wouldn't last that long around my area, I think the laguna is a great add on to cars that are really low as the laguna is rubber so just folds up when it hits the ground. I also had a problem with my clutch slipping when the car was warm, but when the temp was cool it wouldn't slip, it puzzled me so RyanSi replaced my slave cylinder as mine was leaking but that didn't fix it, ryan had a spare d16 clutch lying around so he said he wouldn change it and see if that was the problem rather than buying a brand new clutch. Once the old clutch was removed it turned out to be a lot smaller than what was meant to be fitted, the d16 one was fitted and the problem disappeared. Some pictures up at ryans.

I then got offered a white ej9 1.4 for £300, it had genuine buddyclub P1 alloys, Tanabe PRO-X Coilovers, Stage 1 Clutch, EK9 Grill, Front camber arms, tegiwa rear tie bar, EK9 rear lip, Full Vti interior (dash, carpet, door cards) minus front seats, Facelift rear lights. Full stainless exhaust, 10 Months Mot, 1 Months Tax, 110k, bodywork was pretty rough.

I stole the coilovers and rear lights and fitted them to mine. The wheels were sold to RyanSi for £100 plus a momo style drift steering wheel and del sol front seats. I then sold the white one, I had it up for £450 but a friend had been wanting one for ages so he offered £350 and took it. This is the way it was sold.

Gave mine a quick clean and fitted the rear lights, I think it makes some difference.

I also picked up a CDA induction kit for £15 and fitted that, obviously no real performance gains from a 1.4 but does sound nice. Picture also shows my grounding kit too, got given that but not sure what it does :s

I took the car for a couple of pics at a local skate park, didn't realise the tag behind the car said 'GIMP' until someone commented on my fb lol. Heres a couple of shots.

Not much happened to the civic for the next few weeks until I took a trip with a few pals to the scrappies, I came home with loads of bulb holders for the ek9 rear light mod and a set of fog lights that originally came from a mk3 astra.

Standard lights.

Ek9'd Lights

Fog Lights Fitted

In the last picture it shows my headlights missing, I decided to paint the insides myself to tidy them up a bit, I think they turned out not too bad!

Fitted to the car :)

After mucking around with the ride height I settled near the bottom of the coilovers, meaning the downpipe was about an inch off the floor and didn't realise this till it was too late, no pics of the old downpipe but it was time for a new one, luckily a guy was selling a 4-2-1 manifold and downpipe for £30 on gumtree, so that was mine and fitted it :)

After 2 months of having the wheels on the civic I got bored of them so sold them to my pal who bought the white civic and got these, again they are very leightweight and they seem to look like work emotion cr's or something, went up to Musselburgh for them and stopped in for a krispy kremes and some pics

I didn't get to have a look at them properly in the daylight and when I did I knew straight away they didn't suit being silver, well especially that dull and flat shade. So I painted them white.

Then came the time to wire the fogs up, got an old fog light switch and some wiring. 10 minutes later we have light!

After that a trip to Girvan was in order with my pal Stew to pick him up some prelude seats and an armrest and wind deflectors for myself. Pic shows my del sol seats and armrest.

The civic's cv joint started clicking so phoned RyanSi to see if he had anything, within an hour I had another drivershaft on the car :), so in return I painted his wheels in white, ended up staying on the car for a week.

Pictures at ayrshire underground.

I resorted back to my old alloys as I favour them to Ryans

Last but not least we come to MurrayC1991's pictures of my car from linwood. The way she sits today.

I have since had a Spoon Street Backbox fitted and had the cat removed, but left the centre box in as I don't want something extremely loud without tec.

I will try and keep this updated.

My plans for the car

Still not sure of engine yet, may be B16/18 or may go down the route of D16 turbo again. But keeping it on a budget :)

May plasti dip the car in matt baby blue leaving all black plastics

Ek9 Rear lip asap.

Thanks for looking and reading :)

Very nice progress mate, car looks well now and nice find getting a standard one in that condition and colour with a service history. I had to laugh tho when you said you payed £400 and an iPad for it :nice: the white car was also a cheap find:dance:

I have (NH-575M) Stamped inside my door, which relates to thunder grey metallic, im sure this is an eg colour, correct me if im wrong guys.

I have just bought a genuine EK9 rear lip for £50 and a benem industries towhook in red, I turned down a genuine EK4 sir front lip for £50 as it was just too tatty, will upload pic of colour code inside the door aswell :)
