Well, have owned this EK for around 3 months now, and my EK4 has had a bad few weeks to be fair.
First of, the back box just completely jacked itself in, looked like somebody went round it with a tin opener lol. So it was blowing like crazy and sounded awful :/
So, whilst driving around regrettably with my blowing exhaust :/ I could hear a fast 'banging'tapping' which sounded like metal on metal outside my window, I thought it was some builders at first doing something lol. But then, my steering rocked side to side quite violently, so I pulled over.
First reaction was to look under the wheel, checked the track rod end etc, but everything seemed to be ok at a quick glance... Then I stood up. My rota alloy had destroyed itself :/ The spokes had come completely away from the rim.. On further inspection the previous owner had welded them up at the back of the spoke, and covered it up badly with white paint. But it was completely un-noticeable from the front.
So now I had a farting exhaust, and 15" wheels on the front. This was getting embarrassing.
So I decided to get a new exhaust system and wheels, but almost immediately after, the front discs decided to pack in too, one side cracked real bad :/
Sooo, whilst deciding what exhaust, breaks and wheels to go for, I look outside my living room window one morning, and somebody had attacked my car
On further inspection it looked like somebody had tried to nick my front bumper, but they had split it all down one side. It was a right mess. Also they'd damaged the driver wing quite badly whilst trying to wrench it of, so fitting a new bumper to it would be almost impossible and getting it on nicely.
I was thinking at this point was it really worth it? But I decided to give the old girl another chance...
First of whilst I was waiting for my parts to arrive, I painted the rocker White/Red and black. The paintwork was still shoddy from the last owner, and was more yellow than white, so I spent a whole weekend trying to bring the color back.
Front wings and bumper removed. The wing were quite badly rusted through anyway, so maybe it was a good thing I had to replace them... And the new rocker cover.
Car up, I ordered a mongoose cat back and a straight through cat. So we decided to fit it rather than wait until next week when we could use a ramp. Boredom took over. Fitted the wings too, the color matched perfectly and fitted really well, so I'm pleased
Stripping the interior, we got new rear benches, carpet and door cards (thanks emperor) and started to fit them.
A friend of mine looking comfortable lol.
Door cards of, took a little while longer than I hoped, the car had slightly bigger front speakers fitted, so we had to cut out the new doorcards so they would fit.
The driveway after we stuck everything back on, and my daughter visiting lol. We're doing the work on my friends driveway, and keeping it their until we can get a Clifford alarm fitted locally.
So far going well. Got to fit the new red dot brakes and pads, the EK9 championship white wheels for 4x100 fitment and the new bumper/splitter/grill.
