Bit of fun for the ones with tuned NASP engines here, I came up with a very simple engine scoring system and thought we could start a league table for PI scores!

Black Art Dynamics - How Tuned is Your Engine?

You can either read the article to see how it is all worked out, or if you are allergic to maths, skip straight to the bottom, enter your engine details (bore, number of cylinders and engine power) and check your PI. PI is comparable across any NASP engine, even up to F1 levels (*98mm bore, 8 cylinders, ~740bhp* if you want to check it out).

My ATR out of the factory is 713. My MX5 a frankly embarrassing 479! What about yours?

Anyone claiming over 1000 is automatically awarded a billy bullshitter badge, and an application form to RedBull F1. :D

my stock 18cR with breather mods ,2.5" exhaust sys ,with cam pulleys installed and cams overlapped got me 191Whp (est 220bhp) 19kg/m of torque .this is with 31degree C ambient temp.

that would make my tuned NA engine's PI at 865...

WOO HOoo

Without been on the dyno I can't really enter my power honestly. But for the fun of it I'm guessing my little b16 is producing a healthy 175 ponies with what's done so far.

Giving me a not too shabby Pi of 688 :win:

Now what would be more fun is to add the good ole Westfield power/weight calculator into the mix. Westfield-world Kitcar support Site - Power to Weight Calculator

98 Ek4 B16a2
PI = 688
Hp/per tone = 175.18

If you're going to look at power to weight, it's better to look at WHP. My mate couldn't believe I could keep up with his 400bhp Range Rover in my ATR, but when we worked it out they were both around 130whp/tonne.

704 for the Civic Jordan
794 for the Integra DC2
444 for the insight (with 13kW of motor in adition)
431 for the BMW 540

It can certainly be done, but it's pushing the limits so far that the dyno accuracy would be coming into question!

US figures would be pushing that, but they always seem to make more power than we do for some reason.

That's pretty damn good, but I'm never really sure how US 'whp' figures compare to our 'bhp' figures. They always seem to be what we would consider a good 'at the fly' figure, yet allegedly put that out at the wheels...

Like everything else in America, over exaggerated.
They are probably getting screwed over by all the tuners out there telling them they are making massive power. Either that or our horses are much stronger just less of them.

Edit: above comment was a joke, we all know how Americans struggle with British humour.
