Ok so recently I had a headgasket changed. I thought some white smoke occasionally afterwards always at low rpm vtec is fine. Also had oil leaking , turned out to the cam seal. Had popped out at the bottom and thats where the oil was leaking from.
So.. I dropped the car back in and had it corrected. Within 100 miles I had drove to work car fully warm, I stopped at Greggs as u do, and when I came out and started the car the idle was so low and rough and the exhaust was like an actual steam train. Temp was fine I decided to drag its ass the 30 seconds to my work. I got there and as I stopped hoses for coolant burst and car overheated, head gaasket is now blown again.
My mechanic picked up the car, said all the smoke was the coolant leaking onto hot exhaust I failed to agree. New hoses fitted, and again within 24 hours the same thing happened, hot engine turn off the engine then 5 min later a steam train exhaust. My idle is weird when ColeCold it jumps 1 to 2k sounds like distributer but I think not...
After extensive reading I conclude the intake manifold gasket has not been sealed correctly, acausing excessive air making the car run very lean. Also why idle is bad and smokes up to 4/5 k rpm as its far too much air.
I read that this excessive air gets caught and when engine is turned off the air works its way. Into thw coolant system and blocked the thermostat from opening which thus when I restart the car when hot it overheats.
I am 1600 Out of pocket right now and feel this all started due to my intake manifold not being not sealed correctly so can I pin this on my. Mechanic?
Would he have had the intake manifold off to get to cam seal right hand side of the engine or has it just been not sealed from headgasket job?
I done 1000 miles max before cam seal put back in correctly and 100 max after then the car was a steam train after restart.
What do you guys think?
Much appreciate the help I am going to see the guy on Friday. Sorry this is so long just wanted every detail in
Thanks
