Right I currently have a Mugen Twin Loop on my EK9. Not sure what its purpose is and what its gains and loses are could someone help me out. Considering changing it for Tanabe SMR or Spoon N1

the main purpose of any aftermarket exhuast is to free up HP, with the mugen twin loop the goal is to not only increase HP but to keep sound levels down, hence the twin loop design. mugen designs most of there parts with daily drivability in mind and not just max hp.

the spoon n1 only produces a bit more power than the mugen twin loop ,so i would stick with the mugen twin loop they are very good ,forget the tanabe smr to big to heavy lol ,i run a spoon n1 + b pipe and its very good

Keep the Mugen exaust, i changed my mugen exaust for a comptech race exaust, because i only use my ek9 :ek9: for racing.

The Mugen twin loop, is a good exaust, and the sound level is very low. I think you cant compare Mugen with Tanabe in quality. :nice:

Post pictures of your exaust :pics:

the mugen twin loop is a dual gas path exhaust ,at low rpm the exhaust gas travels into the back box round the loop then back into the box and out the tail pipe ,then at hard acceleration/high rpm the exhaust gas travels straight through the back box and out the tail pipe

nice info, i didn't know that :thanks:

I'd throw it in the bin, they are very very restrictive. I had 1 on my 98 ITR and I took it off and the car revved out so much better, same with my friends 97 ITR and my cousins DC5.

im sure mugen flow tested there exhausts to make sure that they gain power over standard systems ,but then again i use a spoon n1 lol
