Hey guys I know you won't let me down ;) so hers the story in a but shell, I am looking to purchase my first civic, not my first honda though, and was looking at the ek models but in my country they well maintained ones go for an exorbitant price. So lately I was searching for am ep model and found one which is in my price range. The down side is that its 17 Ctdi, meaning its a diesel. Now I'm not sure about diesel engines on Hondas never looked and experienced one. So maybe if you can give me feed back on this particular model and engine I reaaaallly appreciate all help. My first question is - it is VTEC powered? And if so does it give you a send of speed? And what's the mileage you can do with approximately 20 euros

Thank you.

Hey,

There are quite a few ek's in good condition that are not going too for too much money. Then it depends on which ek you are after as they all sell at different price ranges. The ek4, ek9 and ek3 all sell at different prices it just depends on your budget and what you mean by exorbitant after all :D

You must also check which type of registration it has as this will effect price. Old registration ek's are going to be more expensive of course. If you want a fast Honda then forget diesel as the character of a Honda is the petrol engine.

Thats just my opinion of course. Have a browse in Malta Park and I'm sure you will find plenty of ek's for sale in good nick. :win:

The below all seem to be in good condition.....you just need to go have a look at them yourself......

Iif a price for an ek is over 5000 I'd prefer to go for an ep then. Unless its an ek9 in that case it's justified. Unfortunately the only one I like is the blue one but its non vtec , 1.4 engine. And its been on maltaparkmfor quite a lot of time ( more than a year or two). The other 3 are all
Under the new license scheme so over 700 euros... Too much expensive! Was thinking about the ep diesel but I need more details on mileage and feel of the car.

Forget a good condition ek4 or ek9 for less than 5k mate.....i don't think you can find them at such a price in the UK where they are cheap let alone in Malta :wow:
Cheapest you can find an ek9 with old registration is for around 10k if ur lucky.

If you want an ek vtec then it must be an ek4 or ek9.

No idea about diesel Honda's as not much of a fan of diesels especially Honda's.

I had a blak em1 coupe vti and the new owner bought it and exported it to malta. So it might be cheaper to do that!

Cheaper to buy not to maintain cos license can go up to e 737 depending on emissions. Not considering an ek9 for sure hehe, was considering an 1.5 but when I went to buy it some one else boughtna couple of hours before. Good condition inside out and cheap about 4000 it was grey. Loved the colour just not the rims but anyways, as I said earlier above 5000 i d prefer to go for something more modern even for a couple of ks more. All I need is some Intel of how the feel is on a diesel ep with 17 ctdi. I mean I know its not a petrol nor a type r, but is its faster than a 15 VTEC? Same or slower? I used to drive diesel,an Isuzu Gemini, my fathers.

My personal opinion. Diesels are wiked to drive, the torque makes em really easy in city but the noise is not the nicest thing around. The ctdi will defo feel quiker then 1.5 vtec if it isnt anyway... If u want a newer car id go for the ctdi

The 1.5 D series engines are not true VTEC engines if that's what you're looking at (well they are but it's a different kind of VTEC - made for economy not power)
