Need some help. Car not starting

Alright lads,
well it was a cold morning and hadnt driven the car in a while. I went to turn it on just to see it was starting ok and it started fine and I let it idle for a bit and then turned it off. Then i came back out again about 10 mins later and went to start the car and it wouldnt start. There was a wild clicking coming from the front passenger side whenever i would go to turn engine on. The fuel pump is priming but the strange thing is when i go to turn the ignition to turn the engine on all i can hear is the fuel pump going and the engine isnt trying to turn over. Have tried jump starting but no use and just the fuel pump kicking in.

My initial thought was that it was starter motor but really am a bit baffled why it started and then 10 mins later there is just nothing

Does anyone have an idea what the prblem could be?

Sounds like starter motor to me, tried bump starting it ?
 
I had similar problem with my dc2, been stood a week. Just erratic clicking, im going to say battery, my battery was a year old. The car bumped fine but day after day just erratic clicking from the starter. Took battery to garage, said could do with a charge. Got it charged, fired up first time every time now. It does sound like starter but because you said been stood a while, id start with the battery. My lights, radio, ECT would all work fine just not enough charge to fire her up.

I was reading up on the internet and people said to clean earthing points so thats what i did and car started up first time :nice:
