Hi all
I went for a photo shoot with RedLine to Bruntingthorpe Friday with my MUGEN ek9. They are doing a feature on CTR's and had a brand new Civic Type R press car lent to them for the day. They wanted to do a comparison on the EK9, EP3 and new version just released.
The new CTR has a very high up feel about it but remarkably very little body roll. It handles really well with allot of grip in the corners and i didn't really notice the lack of LSD. I only did 3 laps so didn't really find its limits. I turned the traction control off after the second lap and had a go at throwing the back end out and was then suggested i should go in as they were running out of time .
It was the first time i actually had a ek9 (my pride and joy) on the track and can confirm they are built for it. Lift-off-over-steer is so much fun at 85mph i got this down to a fine art and scared several people i took out .
Surprisingly it seemed to lack top end like my ek above 100mph. The max i got to in my ek was 125mph while in the new ctr it could only get to 120mph.
I was pushing both ep's and the new CTR in the corners throughout the day but this could have just been either me having bigger balls than them or the ek is just better at cornering (my car has oem suspension).
I think the new ctr was defiantly the better balanced and well behaved but as with all NEW cars too good IMO. I like a car that I have to drive and feel very involved in.
The EK9 definitely delivers this
Thanks Dunx
