New Here - Thinking of getting an ek9 (not type r)

Im a bit confused by what you want to do. You say that you havent much money to buy a Ek4 as you need the money for travelling, but then you are talking about throwing money at the civic you are looking at buying.

My opinion is not to get the civic and spend money on it, coilovers, grill, wheels etc. Use that money to put towards a Ek4 and the slightly higher insurance premium. Coilovers are going to be at least £500 for something pretty good, wheels several hundred with tyres, grill £30-£50 (may need painting). I think you need to take a step back and think a bit harder about what you are thinking of doing. I had a Lsi before my Civic Jordan, and I can assure you they are totally different beasts, and again from the Ek4 to the EK9. Obviously an Ek9 isnt an option at the moment.

An Ek4 will be so much quicker than the civic you are looking at in stock form. Take my advice, keep the money for the better VTi version and extra insurance premium, you wont regret it. Try and get a test drive in a VTi, and you will know what Im talking about then.

difference in ek4 prices is so much more expensive on insurance than what im looking at thats what i am talking about.
Also the actual car is. (apart from a lsi)
AT this specific moment i have only 1500 pounds.
In a year i might have another 1000 too spend on mods
However i am without a car if i wait that year and spend all the money on an ek4.
Not that confusing i dont think....apologies if it is

what will be the better car...the ej9 or the 1.5lsi (model before)
Thanks

The lsi has an older chassis and has a slightly more powerful engine. Its really up to you to decide which one you prefer the look of.

The EK9 is the type-r chassis, the illusion is the 1998 only special edition, and is an EJ9.

I own a EJ9 illusion as my second civic and for a SOHC 1.4 16v engine (D14A4) its pretty nippy! at 89bhp not sure how quick it will feel compared to a 2.0L Ibiza GTI, but its rev happy and tuning parts are available -- just lacks twin cam and VTEC!

i've seen a few D-series turbo's, they can be fast, trust me though you'll love the supersonic blue colour! really stands out!
