Hi peeps, just a quick message as I'm a new member.... I have a civic aerodeck with a B18c4 lump sitting under the bonnet, I've owned this for about 6 months now and has come in handy being an estate moving things about and carrying my dog around. But the time has come to step it up abit, so I'm currently looking for an ek9 (cheap one) as I plan on building this car from the ground up with the B18 lump being dropped in the ek9. I know this is common convertion so any help and advice is greatly appreciated. :thanks: Neil.

welcome mate. are you planning on buying a ek9 shell and fitting the b18c4 from your aerodeck?

Hi mate, yeah that's my general plan. I have most things I need as I have the aerodeck sitting there. The only problem with a bare shell is I have no trailer to move it about so one that drives would be easier for me, but as long as the body work aint to bad then nothing else should be a problem.

is it a ek9 or a ek4/ej9 your after. i would prob say your best trying to get a decent ej or ek4 rolling shell as i think a decent ek9 rolling shell will set you back a good bit. you could buy a taced and motd ej or ek4 for around 600-700£ and drive it home. swap evrything from your civic and sell whats left.that way your saving money that could be spent elsewhere on the car.:)

I think it's got to be a ek9 as I prefer the shape compared to the ek4/ej9..... But my options will remain open for now. I have found a couple of ek9's at a reasonable price and hopefully have one on my drive in the next couple weeks! Just won't know where to start and what order to do things. I was going to paint it white but don't want people to think it a type R replica so I need to have a rethink on a few things.

Welcome mate. Just thought I'd let you know that an ek9 is the type R. Also, an ej9/ek3/ek4 are all the same shape as an ek9.
Also, if you do buy a genuine ek9, I wouldn't swap the 185bhp b16b for a 170hp b18c4.
But its up to you I suppose.

I thought the ej related to the older shape civic, but I am bit of a novice with the Hondas at the min and was talked into buying this one buy a mate because of the b18 engine which is why all the advice and guidance is more than welcome. I've only had Subaru's and Clio sports in the past 7 years. I went to the south mimms meeting and fell in love with the ek shape so I've decided to build one and drop my engine in as I've got it sitting there.

Welcome Neil, I just Google'd a Civic Aerodeck now, never knew it existed lol

I say swop the B18c into a EK9 or EK hatch & use the aerodeck as a stance car...stretched wheels, insane negative camber & slammed on the ground:nice:

Yeah they exist, but no one really does anything to the aerodeck! Don't know why as its been a very good practical car that shocks most people when I take them out in it as they don't expect it to be that quick. I've lowered it as much as I can considering it an every day car and I was looking at some banded steels for it which would set it off with abit of camber. I found that parts are alot harder to find than the more common ek which is why I've decided to make the change.
