Oil pressure problem/question

I was just about to go for a blast in the sun, and while I was turning round on my drive my oil pressure gauge started alarming!

When I turn the wheels the gauge shows a drop in pressure to below 1bar and alarms, when I put the wheels straight it settles at about 1.5bar.

I decided against the drive out :(

Could it bad a faulty gauge?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
Guessing it's an electrical gauge?
Power steering still?

For what it's worth my latest forged engine runs under 1 bar on idle with 10w40 oil....
 
So we thinking it's the drain from the power steering pump kicking in?
What are the revs when the steering lock is on?
 
Is that pressure when the engine is warm or just after starting?

Sounds like a faulty gauge or a leak around the sender unit maybe.

Had a faulty gauge before that suddenly lost about a bar of pressure after starting, a firm whack to the dashboard and it started reading normal again
 
It's warm pressure, and the gauge reacts to the engine revving going up like normal
