P73 Vs. PCT Pistons

If your compression/leakdown results were ok then the pistons and rings won't be to blame in regard to damage and wear. If you want to check your pistons, take the spark plug out and get a torch and have a look, if you Google pictures of the EK9 and DC2 pistons you'll see there's a massive difference in look which you should be able to identify down the hole if it's not too coked.

Me and Cal just had a thought, could it be that the pistons in my engine are P73 ones or even B16a pistons and compression is not right so thats why am down on power? could it also be worn pistons??

possibly mate, would be worth getting the torch oot i reckon

Will do dude, thanks! :) not long till yours is getting sorting eh bud, you looking forward to it?

How much power are you after? I personally like the JDM B16 pistons, they are lighter and have high enough compression that you can run more aggressive tuning or turbo if you decide with a slightly thicker head gasket but lack the skirt coating of the ITR/CTR pistons.

I am only after slightly over stock power, 190bhp I would be more than happy with as I am already running a 4.9 final drive and the car is fully stripped inside so it is already pretty quick! just want it running perfect but not got a clue why the power is down.

Its either cam timing or wrong cams or pistons I think. I am going to check the pistons this weekend with cal then it goes to Henry on 2nd Nov to get looked at and hopefully sorted then mapped on chrome!:nerv:

Did you ever figured it out? What was the issue?
I reckon you did, when looking at your sig :)
