P73 Vs. PCT Pistons

meeting up with pimpin at Henry's dyno tomorrow so looking forward to seeing it at first hand! :)

its a beast, I remember when I first got my ek9 2 years ago I was on my way to a hondatech meet and pimpin was behind me coming onto a slip road and I was at full chat and pimpins vti-s just flew past me like it was nothing and that was it running with the stock B18 block and b16a2 head I think and if I remember rightly it was using about 5 litres of oil a week!!! lol it will be scary to see what its like now! lol

you car has had a crazy life mate, you should do a full build write up coz it was class when I was reading about it on civicsportsclub.org!! lol

you guys shoud give me a shout when your heading down there as i'm off work and wouldn't mind a wee word with mr. Roy myself :)

i also have the .050 oversize ek9 pistons(nippon) in my b16a2 build.

doing a b18 bottom end build at the moment myself and gonna use the same pistons (new) in that build also but gonna use oem honda rings this time round.
my engine builder said he may have to skim top of the pistons for clearance as the head has been skimmed quite a lot!

he has already done it before numerous times and even own his own dc2 he used to own and it was a crazy spec also.

then i be back to Henry for another tune next year :win:

estimated 12.5:1 ratio or therabouts, aye run it on v power, its my daily driver doing about 20 miles a day...

cheers rambo, at its worst my old build was using a litre every 200 miles as it suffered bore glazing, thats why I built this one!

gorbash head down man, ill give you a text when we are there if you want? should be there about 2 ish.

eternal blue - id recommend oem pistons and rings rather than the cheapo ones if you want a decent ring seal

well nippon aint cheapo pistons bud, cheaper than oem yes but quality is fine.
Do a search and you will find guys in the US rate them well.
Near sure they are made in the same factory as the oem pistons.
Deffo be using the oem rings thou in this build.

you have no clue what you are talking about have you use the nippon pct pistons? they are the same or better quality that oem ones and i have 1 of each right now in front of me, you can see that the nippon one are stronger than the oem and their is not a single person that have installed nippon pct pistons telling that they don't like them or that they are of bad quality. people always say the same "you should go OEM on this and OEM on that" and this is not always the only way or the better way to go.

that is so true bud.
I have never seen a bad report about the nippon pistons yet, also been running them myself for past few years.
I always use oem parts but in this case i dont need to.

nah this was a separate arrangement mate, cal and rambo were getting theirs dyno'd I wanted my map checked and i'm glad I did as that fujitsubo has lost me 16 brake and my maps all over the place now, getting it sorted in a fortnight....204 brake and 135 torque still, but its curves interesting:p

wind it in neebs, next time you use them measure the weight of each piston, they are not made to the same quality or tolerances of oem pistons...

and for the record yes I used them for 10k, so don't come all internet warrior on me...I back up my posts with fact and my own personal experience, not just coz I read on hondatech that they are the shizz:nice:

end of the day you can put what you like in your engine, is the point of a forum not to share knowledge and opinions?

i dunno where you got that from? i just sat behind him trying to get the dc5 to play with him after deciding that if i could outrun the dc5 with 0.5 bar of boost in 5th from 40mph it wasn't worth wasting the fuel

fairly sure pimpin knows i wasn't trying to pass him at any stage

was interesting thats for sure though i had a massive headache after following pimpin's car the fumes off it where pretty insane lol

hope you find the cause of the lost power rambo theres got to be something..

hahah nah i was meaning the dc5 lad, got a wee run after you turned off!

don't worry i've put a better crankcase breather on it so the over run oil smoke has stopped, henry will cure the fuel smoke next friday!

whats up with your rambo? not good news again?
