You need to use a dial bore gauge to messure the cylinders to confirm or not if your within spec.

cheers lad, so in theory over sized pistons = over sized rings, standard pistons =standard rings if block is standard

If you have std sized pistons then std sized rings should be ordered. When you run your fingers up the bore can you feel a lip at the top ?

havin got the head taken from the bottom end yet lad:)
everything is stripped thou except the cams just flat out workin at the min:)

you did a rebuild didnt ya?? i'll prob be droppin you a few pm's if u dont mind!!

wen your strippin the head can i just take the cams out with no hassle, just undo the bolts on the rails, in the right sequence?

Generally oversized rings would be used where the end gap of the standard ring is too wide for the application. Are you fitting new pistons? If so you may want to consider going for a oversized piston. IMO its a good idea to go one size over when rebuilding your block, Overboring the cylinder walls 0.5mm to take you to a bore of 81.5mm. This way you can ensure that the cylinder wall is a true circle from the top of the bore to the bottom.

Yeh i did, check out my build link if you want at the bottom of the page. It is a good idea to get it bored like vtec6000 saying you know you have a good fresh engine then. Just make sure you take it to a decent machine shop that knows what there doing and can leave the honing finish that Honda require.

cheers lad, its going to westward engineering here in ireland, supposed to be one of the best:)

going cost few bob gettin it bored aswell

if i get it bored .50 and use .5 oversize pistons:

will i need sleeves for the block??
will engine litre increase i.e. from 1.6 to bigger??
and will compression be effected??

cant you just replace your piston rings? only the rings would of worn and if you wanted could upgrade pistons?

Whats the exact specs of piston to wall clearance of a standard b16b piston rings?

what benfits would upgrading pistons have??:)

am thinkin bout boring out to 85mm (2.1 litre) , sleeving the block, and use je pistons and eagle rods!
