Item: Honda Civic Type R (EK9)
Location: Aberdeen
Contact: 07866256089 - Wayne
Price: £5250
MOT: 31/07/2012
Tax: 31/03/2013
Mileage: 151kms which equates to 94k miles (circa 6k per year)
Details:
I am presenting for sale my R plate Honda Civic Type R (EK9). I have owned this car since October 2009 and am the second owner in the UK. The gentleman I bought it off was a member on the owners club website and, like myself, didnât leave the car wanting for anything.
When I bought her the prior owner was able to provide a dyno print from February 2009 showing a read out of 187bhp â up two horses on stock. While these are never 100% accurate I believe this is indicative of the level of care that has been taken with her all her life (and continued in my ownership!) I actually travelled half way across the country to collect her â down from Aberdeen to Norwich!
There have never been any issues getting through MOTâs â the only point that recurred was in relation to a sticky rear caliper. I replaced the entire caliper with a brand new OEM one in January this year.
Since buying, Iâve had access to another car that rapidly became the daily (particularly since the arrival of my girlfriends company vehicle) resulting in the Civic becoming a second car.
Iâve found insurance on this to be very reasonable with Elephant. Iâd recommend trying them out for a quote if youâre young and struggling to get cover.
History:
The car has had the following work done since import â I have a mix of receipts for this work however some of the latter items were bought through a mechanic friend on account so donât have support unfortunately:
Modifications:
Some choice modifications are present and correct:
Bodywork:
As with all older cars there are some stone-chips and the occasional small scratch on the bodywork as a result of general use. There are no dents to my knowledge. The specific issues Iâve identified are:
As with most Jap cars rust on the exterior is the killer, there is none on the arches and I recently went back over them with some waxoil as a general precaution.
Conditions:
As always, no driving the car without proof of insurance. Iâm happy to take any prospective buyer for a spin however.
I may take a sensibly priced P/X to facilitate the buyer but Iâm looking for something interesting preferably and am happy to put cash into a deal for the right car (E46/36 M3, mk1 Focus RS, 230 F1 Megane, Z3M, Z4 3.0, DC5, JDM EP3, 350Z etc.) as thatâs where the cash will be going anyway ☺
Pictures:
I can take as many pictures as required â drop me a PM or post here with any requests. I can also send over high-resolution images via email:

History:
The car has had the following work done since import â I have a mix of receipts for this work however some of the latter items were bought through a mechanic friend on account so donât have support unfortunately:
- Imported and service * 118,448km
- Filter and fluid change * 121,128km
- Clutch * 123,500kms
- Cambelt * 125,075km
- Filter and fluid change, new rear pads * 126,626km
- Filter and fluid change, additional waxoil 134,300km
- Filter and fluid change, battery + thermostat replacement * 143,421km
- Filter and fluid change, rear brake disks and pads, rear calliper *
151,100km - On top of this there has been a handful of other small items e.g.
replacement droplinks for MOT.
Modifications:
Some choice modifications are present and correct:
- BC Racing coilovers â fully height and damping adjustable. These were fitted in April 2010.
- Mugen Twinloop exhaust â aftermarket system improves flow. Not too loud or intrusive.
- Facelift rear lights â improves the rear of the pre-facelift cars in my opinion.
- US spec import plates â slightly smaller than the JDM equivalents. I got these made up at the local Halfords and Iâve never had any issues from the police running them.
- CD player wit AUX input â relocated to the second din slot lower down the centre console.
- Parcel shelf with clips
- Gauges â oil pressure and water/oil temperature mounted in the single din dash slot per the pictures below. The oil temperature sensor hung low under the car therefore has been removed (the gauge doesnât work as a result). Can be rectified by the buyer if required.
- She will come on anthracite OEM alloys with Hankook RS2 tires all round. These are the summer wheels, pictured below are the winter wheels with Kuhmo cold weather tires (can be negotiated separately). Iâll be re-fitting these at some point shortly so will update with more pictures then.
Bodywork:
As with all older cars there are some stone-chips and the occasional small scratch on the bodywork as a result of general use. There are no dents to my knowledge. The specific issues Iâve identified are:
- The front splitter has some paint flaking â this is the result of being low at the front and catching the odd bit of roadkill.
- The rear bumper has a few marks from the prior owner where a neighbor slowly reversed into the rear of the car. I never changed it as I used to transport my road bike in the boot and didnât want to lift over a freshly repaired bumper for fear of scraping it again.
- There is a scratch on the rear quarter. This has been touched up and is not noticeable unless looking for it.
- Spot of rust coming in just under the boot rubber (not visible externally). I treated this with some waxoil recently.
As with most Jap cars rust on the exterior is the killer, there is none on the arches and I recently went back over them with some waxoil as a general precaution.
Conditions:
As always, no driving the car without proof of insurance. Iâm happy to take any prospective buyer for a spin however.
