Pug 106gti to an EK9...


yeh the people on the 106 forum think that the gti is the best car in the world, haha.

my mate has a standard gti and against my standard ek9 he didnt stand a chance, i used to have a jordan and to be fair it was a damn good race against his gti, 106s are quick little cars but theres no comparison to an ek9, u wont be dissapointed!
 
well I dunno, depends on how much tuning has gone in the car. My 106 gti runs a 14.6 1/4th mile, so its quite fast, but it has had quite a number of mods done. an ek9 will do 15.0 from stock if I'm not mistaken.... so ther is far more potential in an ek9 than in a gti.

ek9 looks better
ek9 handles better
ek9 gets to speed quicker
ek9 is more rare
basically ek9 is the ultimate car!!
 
Me and my mates like to call saxos & 106's bean cans lol. Shutting the door sounds like a tinny sound! :clap:

Apart from that the civic ek9 is just a much better car all round, quicker, handles better & I dont see another ek9 on any of my travels around but I do see about a million pugs so I know what i'd rather drive!! :D
 
here in Greece pugs are overestimated while some guys use to call them the epitome of driving hahaha Unfortunately the handling of ek4 is overall minor to gtis and saxos vts in stock form due to it's GT character rather than Racing one.

So i would really like from the ones who had one to elaborate the driving differences among ek4 ek9 and pugs.

p.s. i am not referring to speed in a straight line but to handling and turning abilities

A fella that works near me drives past me evey morning on a Sunday, really earlie. He's got a Rallye. I kinda know he lives local, but even on freezing cold mornings he's ragging the **** out of his Rallye past me.
I really love how 106 owners think their cars are super quick, but don't realise the basic needs for it.
I would never in hell drive my car like a thud on a cold start.

man some of the people on there are dumb!! Of course and ek9 is not only quicker than a 106 gti its just an all round better car for driving experiance, the feel of the car and they way it was developed :bow:. i can't believe anyone would even compare them its like comparing its like comparing angelina jolie and ann widicombe!

I've owned both and both have there good points but the pug has more bad points!

I've been apart of many clubs and nop matter what each person will always think that there car is better than another similar car! and the only way to prove it once and for all would be a run down the 1/4 mile! and i think it would be better done with two standard cars first and then ones with mods and show you what there difference is!

unfortunatly i dont know when the next run what you bring is or know anyone with a standard 106gti so could be differcult but im more than willing to give it a go!
 
If there is a civic to compare the GTi to its the VTi - its very similar in terms of straight line speed, power/weight is similar - for me the VTi still wins - i was never beat in a straight line race with a GTi or VTS however i think the 106 would be better on track if we are talking Stock vs Stock
 
I had a jordan and my mate had a 2.0 16v clio with a few mods, we both had our cars RR and mine was standard his with a few mods and both where running 160bhp at the wheels, when ever there was an opertunatly to have a race (track day usage) we did and it was always bumper to bumper stuff! the both of us always left 106gti's!

I think its funny how they have 17pages of discusions thou!

Yeah i cant believe they have even been comparing the GTi's to EK9's - but the even funnier thing is people saying they are beating them in standard form - its not going to happen, my mate had full breathing mods on his 106GTi and couldnt catch my VTi - and EK9 would demolish a GTi or VTS
 
this thread is getting quite long. were nearly getting as bad as the gti lot. but the thing is were right ;)
