If your car is excessively lowered, then you will have lowered your suspensions roll centre as well as your CoG. The distance between the RC and the CoG determines how much roll you get, quite often lowering the car can increase the distance between the two resulting in more roll!
These bring the RC back up, effectively giving more roll resistance without the downsides of increased spring rates.
Only bother if you are really slammed, you'll do more harm than good otherwise.
