when doing any bit of racing how do you launch your car before the green.

1. clutch fully in
or
2.clutch half way in (ie biting) and hand brake up

I use the second method. Pre-loads everything and reduces shock loadings, just a lot more mechanically sympathetic if anything else.

Friend of mine uses a more aggresive approach in his rally car, three big blips, dump the clutch on the third 'blip' catching it on the up as it passes around peak torque RPM. I did try this at Rushmoor arena and it does seem quicker if you can nail it perfectly. Easy to cock up though and pretty hard on the drivetrain.

do you think its mechanically sympathetic..not wearing the clutch out? a bit rough like on the clutch?

well i was asking the question because i used to launch with the cluthc fully in but i was told that a better start would come from clutch while its biting.

i tried this last night against my friends pulsar and the clutch just started to spin as it is spurious clutch (blue print)

what clutches are ye using????

x2, its too sore on the car just popping the clutch from fully in, i used to do oval racing a few years ago and the 2nd method is how i started every time...

second method certainly seems to help prevent a lot of wheel spin

Id also use the second method. Bit less agressive on the drivetrain and clutch
