Can any of you guys who have owned a Race Base car give me any info on what they are like to life with compared to the standard EK? I've seen a nice example for a sale. I'm weighing up buying one over a regular car.

Depends what you want to do with it, obviously driving it daily won't be as nice as a standard '9 with recaros and P/S.

Mine only gets driven when needed as I walk to work and I like it without P/S and the interior will be gutted in mine very soon.

i would welcome the rasebase seats if i was using my ek9 as a daily, i hate the damn recaros!

theres no such thing as a race base model, there a poverty spec
they were bought cheaper as they didnt come with any extras

There is. It had the option to come with nothing barely anything, so companies such as Spoon, top fuel, J's racing / and other enthusiasts could do what the hell they wanted at a much cheaper price.

It's going to be a weekender and track day car. I like that it doesn't have equipment that's not really needed to keep the weight down.

Do you want to spend time removing things like ABS, P/S, Electric Windows? Or do you want to keep them?

Some Racebases also come without tints which I like.

Wouldn't be any harder to live with ull more than likely end up taking the parts off a normal ek9 anyway if it's for track use etc. get er bought

The car I'm looking at is a shell with seats and an engine. It would definatly need a stereo fitting. Hopefully mr bank says yes and gives me more money's.

Ye only buy a race base if your goner gut the interior and dont want the extras . I have a facelift racebase

the good thing with a normal 9 is the 500 quid you can make on the interior if you strip it. Then you can use the 500 to do an abs/srs delete etc and your close to a racebase with change.

I need to get mine on a weighbridge its probly goner be the same as stokes.

Standard ej/ek seats are alot nicer to use than recaros in my opinion

Stock EJ/EK seats I'll admit are more comfortable and easier to live with on a daily basis, my ek3 feels like your sitting in an arm chair lol. And I'd say a pair of them is 10-15 kg's lighter than the heavy Recaro's.

Although, I love Recaro's really and couldn't do without them in my ITR.

Race base 9's really appeal to me, interior wise all I would change is have a fixed recaro spg for the driver and a nardi wheel :nice:
