Ok so i,ve had my radiator, engine, the whole lot out of car for flush and tuck,
The engine was sitting for a month or two.
have everything back in now and only one problem,
my fan wont kick in when im stopped, when i put a direct power from the battery to it it works, so that rules out the fan itself, the connectors on the plug look good,
i presume the fan works off the temperature switch on the thermostat housing but im not sure, does anyone have a wiring diaghram so i can diagnose the problem, or does anyone know a common fault?

The wire to the fan switch on the engine should be live and earths out when the switch switches at 95 degrees

I've had trouble with the relay working loose in the fuse box but if you have done a wire tuck it could be related to that, did you remove any wires ?

Ok, so a live goes to the fan, when the temp gets to 95degrees the switch makes contact and earths that live therefore the fan will turn on?
is there a seperate relay just for the rad fan? yes ive removed wires but im pretty confident only the right ones!!
anyone with a wiring diagram?

Pull the plug off the coolant temp switch, one wire should be live, earth the other one out and the fan should start

The fan relay is in the engine bay fuse box

ok check the fuse its ok, pulled off the plug and put a testlight on each pin earthing from battery and neither pin is live, what should i check next?

When my fan developed an intermittent fault the relay had rattled around and opened up the connectors underneath the relay in the engine bay fuse box, I tightened them up and didn't have trouble again

Try this
