hiya lads. was thinking about getting a remote start for my coupe. would save

me going out in the morning to warm it up. just wanted to no what everyone

opinion is on these kits. are they safe? i was going to fit it myself. qualified

mechanic and did a couple of years as an electrician so not worried about that

just the kits themselves.

thanks in advance.

sounds like a scene from a comedy sketch with the valet, execpt from paying for the bodyshop off course. the one im looking at has a sliding cover over the buttons so at least that rules out my ass starting the car.

cheers mate

I got one on my car a clifford avantguard 5.5 and i love it. If you accidently start it, It has a timer, u can ajust it so it cuts off after 15 mins. To use the remote start you have to leave it running when you get out, so you cant leave it in gear and it turns off when you lock/arm the car. They are so hard to fit i got mine professionaly done and it put my insureance down.

alarms are a waste of money period ( in my personal opinion ) it takes 15 sec.. to go outside and turn the car on..

it dose but this way you can let your car warm up with out leaving your keys in it and the car is still locked and alarmed. At least your car is a bit safer with a alarm.

i'm pretty sure that it's better/healthier to warm up your engine by putting load onto it, obviously not booting it from cold, but a steady drive rather than letting it idle.

Plus it's illegal to leave a car running whilst no one is in it, just my two pence :))

Its only illegal if your car is on a public road so i been told (by a cop).

thanks for the in put lads, im not getting it to protect the car so much as im lazy in the morning and like the idea of starting the car from my bedroom. as regards warm up it is way better to idle it up to temp as way less wear occurs. i know myself how easy it is to start a car with or without an alarm, i have had to re-wire a mates alarm as he was a tit and didnt know what he was at.

thanks again

I have a Clifford G5 alarm with intelli start and I love it! Previous owner had fitted it to the car and its perfect as he is an electrician/engineer! :) Cany beat starting the car from the bedroom before I go out. Mines has been set to switch off automatically after 10mins so all good. Had my EK9 over 3 years now and no problems with the alarm! :)
