Removing ABS...

ABS is only a safety feature

I run 300mm proper race brembos on my car with a full race pad and the car does not lock up even under the heaviest of braking

Don't knock it until you've tried it :nerv:

I have. just w/ ABS! LOL. Why didnt you just buy a car w/out ABS.....?

Sorry to bump an old thread, i'm currently removing all the ABS wiring from my DC2 - Just wanted to make sure that all I need to do it follow the ABS wiring as far back as it goes?

That's all Ive done, just removed everything ABS related. If it throws an ABS light up on the dash take out the bulb :)

steven is right ive removed the abs and the car is much better at slowing down now even under hard braking no locking up and very easily controlable
best mod that was done for as little as 40 quid :D

I disabled my abs but didn't remove it as it was cutting in when it didn't need to. Braking was so much better as before it would try and interfer when on country lanes as the suspension was pretty hard. One of the best mods i did and was free!

The ABS should not be intrusive on the stock car, the problem is that as soon as you change your pads, or upgrade the calipers, the ABS computer no longer knows how powerful the brakes are and gets confused, triggering early and for longer than it needs to. In this case disabling/removing it will pay dividends, certainly worked when I fitted 282s to my EK4, but for a fairly stock car running mild fast road pads, there should be no real need to remove it unless you really want to save weight.

I think it if it is there, it needs to work (i.e. no disabling/partial removal) but if it is not there then it's OK?
