Can somebody confirm how to replace the headlight bulbs.

I thought this would be a 5 min job but it appears like the bumper has to come off so that i can slide out the headlamps housings to get at the bulbs. surely not ?

Cheers

you dont need to take the bumper off to change a headlight bulb there is a big rubber seal wit wires goin into it an a plastic block pull that out an the seal off an ur bulb is there held in place by a pin.

Didnt seem to be enough room to get at the bulbs from the back of the housing without cutting my hands to shreds. I'll try again though if its possible.

Cheers

Was doing a search after finding a lack of room to access the passenger side headlight bulb, and found this blog, which might be of use to anyone who has to change the bulb in future.

Andrew Hay - 1998 Honda Civic Headlight Replacement

wow, that URL made it seem much harder than it really is, and worth noting to anybody who read that article ALWAYS use OEM Honda power steering fluids or you will spring a leak and have to replace/rebuild your steering rack.

Yeah its tight, took me a while and I have really boney hands:D What bulbs you putting in Zen? Osram Nightbreakers I trust?

I met your mate with the Focus ST at a RR day recently btw! Nice brummy chap.

Much agreed its tight but definatly do-able!!!

the first time i did it, i cut my several times... and was so annoyed that i took the entire headlight out just to see how it went to lock on and off.
Once you see it through the eyes, every time after will be easy ;)

Nightmare job! Good "fight" to get the old bulb out, and then got the new bulb in, but couldn't get any leverage to persuade the metal clip to slide under the plastic hook. Ended up bending the metal clip a little to bring it closer and finally got it clipped in without breaking the plastic hook. What took me about 1 minute on my previous car has taken about 40 minutes :(( - hmmmm, maybe I should change to an old Ford

PS - is the wiring in the EK9 capable of running higher wattage headlight bulbs - at the moment I've just replaced it with a standard 60w, but have some higher wattage bulbs I used to use on my previous car?

Glad it wasn't just me who had problems fitting the bulbs then.

As said already, It'll probably a lot easier to do next time.

I went for the new phillips x-treme as per the sticky above and was more than impressed with them.

glad you like the bulbs, also you can remove the front bumper and remove the headlights for a much easier installation but it takes more time...

i had it done a few weeks ago. It takes only a couple of minutes if you have done it before. You might need to realign your bulbs again.
i bought this ones

A question now. I am under the impression that the driver's bulb, lights a bit to the left. The right bulb is ok. So could a align them to the left or right, apart from up and down?
Thanks
