Revving troubles

I have a bit of a problem with my new b20vtec .
What happens is, when im in 5th gear cruising and then i put my foot down and the revs go up to about 3.5k but pulls normal. ( like the car dont really go faster but the revs go quickly.) Then when it gets to 3.5k it drops back down to about 2.5k and pulls normal and everything seems ok again.
Its really hard to explain but from that description does anybody have any input?
 
Well thats a hard one to grasp...check your engine ignition timing if you think the power levels are off. At least thats where I would start.
 
Not as yet m8, havent had time to check anything more, ive posted the question on a few sites and everyones saying clutch. but it only happens in 5th gear!
I have since taken it for another spin and it does seem to pull quite well in 5th but just as it gets so high in the rev range it seems to drop off, I dont really want to abuse it too much as its only on a basemap.
