The look it gives is the paints reacted. Not sure i'd be happy with that finish....

That looks great mate!! Going to have to give it ago. Did you bake it for a bit then?

Apparently you do have to put it in the oven for a little while so the wrinkle finish happens.

I wonder how it will work with a heat gun applied?

Yer you can do that, but it reads on the advert that the heat of the engin would do it, just wondereing how he did it :D

You can bake it, I personally didn't and left it for a week before sanding off the lettering. If you don't put it in the oven, it does say to leave at least 48 hours before any re-assembly which to me meant any sanding etc....

I'll admit it doesn't look perfect, I think where there was slightly thicker paint left on it is where the patches have appeared. But IMO it is just a engine cover and I just wanted it to look fresh. If you're a better sprayer than I am, which isn't hard, then it will look better than that. TBH unless you're really looking at it closely it looks good!

As for how much I used, that was 1 can, including the strut bars.

I think it looks decent mate! Hopefully can get mine looking like that. How did you do the wrinkle then??

VHT RED WRINKLE FINISH SPRAY PAINT SP204 on eBay (end time 02-May-10 15:49:55 BST)

I've just got my 2nd can from them.... cheapest on Ebay and great service! The paint wrinkles as it dries. It's dry after 24 hours but it still feel "wet" after that time, so avoid sanding it for a few days. Luckily this is for my new engine so wasn't in a rush. Also, I couldn't fit it into my oven....

As for a tip when sanding, I bought a pack of metal sandpaper from Halfrauds with three different grades. Just used the fine to remove the paint and then the extra fine to give a good finish.

Could you let it dry a bit then stick it in the oven for it to wrinkle? I think I'd get killed for leaving red paint in the oven!

Same as above lol i just wondered as it says get it hot to wrinkle it?? but you say you just left it and it did it buy its self??
