I am just wondering are rota rims considered a bad set of rims to put on an ek9? that seems to be the impression i get! if so can someone please explain?

there not bad there just fake, rota copies all the good japanese wheels and sells them in a cheaper 1 piece made in china design. so people like me who have REAL wheels sometimes get upset when we see a bunch of people with crappy civic's riding on the rota's that look like our real wheel.

however i am guilty as well, i have a set of work emotion on my hatchaback and a set of rota circuit 8 on my coupe

Blinx makes a good point.

Many people use rota's for track wheels because they have some good sizes and are fairly light, (but not that light) They of course are not the lightest or strongest wheel, and the finish is not durable in my experience, but you get what you pay for. They never look as good as the original wheel they are attempting to copy.
Here is a link to the last rota thread, take a look at the pictures I posted. Its of the real deal TE37, and a Rota, taken with the same camera on the same day.

My main gripe with rota's on ek9's specifically-
Ek9's are rare and beutiful cars, one of honda's masterpieces, if you live somewhere where you have the privelige of owning one, you shouldn't put such a cheap wheel on such a great car, especially when there are better options for the same or a little more money. I had the same feeling when I saw an s2000 go by with a trialer hitch. It doesn't belong.

Oh, and if you want to hear 560 different opinions on rota's in the same thread--

exactly!! ive spent almost 20k usd on my hatchback and i got nice work wheels for it, my coupe on the other hand ive probably spent 3500 and thats including the purchase price, so i put cheap wheels on that...

obviously rotas are nice looking rims, but they spoil the exclusivity of proper jap wheels, rotas are a poor mans wheel!

Discussing all the time about rotas gives them more value they shouldn't get LOL! Some people somehow managed to convince others that rotas are racing, "perfect" rims, if that's possible............

They are a cheap alloy, but here in the UK we dont have much choice, other more worthy rims are ridiculously expensive. Im after some lightweight track rims but I refuse to be ripped off. When I see the choices (colours/designs) that could be available jdmland.com one of many examples it makes me sick.

May I ask from curiosity, how much for a set of Rays there in UK? :nerv:

ok i see the point but all these real jap wheels cost absolutely ridiculous amounts of money! whereas with the money you would save you could buy more stuff for tuning your car??? I have a set of work racing rims on my eg9 but i dont know what they are called? they are 9 spoke rims with a slight dish does anyone know?

I have a 15'' set of rota slipsteams with yoko prada spec 2 semi slicks for track use and i have a 15'' set of proper jdm buddy club P1 wheels which are way lighter than the rotas but in the uk the rotas are ok for what you pay for them there very reasonably priced i got my rota slipstreams with yokohama prada spec 2 tyres delivered for £425

vtec..do you have P1 QF or SF? What do they weigh? TE37 used seem to be £600 here in UK.

If you're good at finding a deal, "real jap wheels" do not cost rediculous money. For example, I sourced some enkei rpf1's with toyo t1-r's and rays lugs for $800 shipped (400 pounds) with only 1000 miles on them. There are many places in the US that sell used JDM wheels for pretty cheap, but the shipping to you guys in the UK makes it so much more expensive.
I suggest those in the UK hurting for money to look for a good deal locally.
