Seized caliper , rebuild or replace ?

I rebuilt my rear caliper 2 weeks ago, took me all day by the time I managed to get the whole caliper off the car and then rebuilt the whole lot, seals and new piston etc. I also did all the slider pins on each wheel and fitted new pads all around, plus system bleed.

I paid £29 for the rebuilt kit which included a new piston. The hardest part I found was transferring all of the inside bits of the old piston (bearing, spring, washers and clips etc) to the new piston - I found it very tricky being it my first time.

Job done though - a lot of time but a fair chunk of money saved and job satisfaction :)

Anyone got a full how to guide I had started with just a seal kit. But 20 mind in realised I needed 2 new pistons for the rear.

I've done both, rebuilt & just fitted a recon caliper.

Rebuilding is simple enough, but takes more time. I think having done both I'd just get a recon caliper & whack that on, bleed the brakes, done.

Was actually going to write they usually come with grease so that's all you need mate, pistons free enough?

ya piston is free , just really want the rubber alone that seals from water and dirt into the slider . dont sell them anywhere so im going to try repair the rubber :)
