Hi guys and gals, I've had a look at my coilies today as I'm gonna be fitting the fronts tomorrow along with the rest of the suspension. How do I set them to the highest setting? I mean how much of the thread has to be threaded into the cup? They are Racing Logic Hyper Street but I'm sure the basic design is the same as all the other budget sub £1k coilovers... I'm running 205/50/15 tyres at the front on 6.5j ET32 wheel and I don't want to go stupidly low so I want to start as high as these will allow and take it from there.

Are they pre load adjustable aswell? I would first set the preload, Finger tight with one and half turn with the spanner works well on a road car. Depends what your high is .. 3 finger gap? I would say thread about an inch into the cup all round. Measure it with a vernier gauge. Once fitted mark the locking nuts on your preload with felt tip and lower it bit by bit all round until your happy. Count the turns and copy it all round. I always keep the rear one turn higher for slight rake to the front.

So really the question is what is the minimum safe thread engagement. 20-25mm sounds ok to me.

I think you'll be surprised how they sit out the box.
What dampers you have on ATM? When you take it off match the size with the Coilovers but bear in mind the Coilovers are likely to have stiffer springs and be a fixed rate spring at that so you'll likely end up higher than stock(assuming your stock)

Edit
Just re-read and comes across as if your rebuilding the suspension back up.
Can you remember how high it say before?
