Show or Race car..?

Everyone starts off like that lol
Now I'm stripped out, plate LSD, race compound brake pads(squeaky when cold) all for the odd day I'm out on track lol

I can imagine i'll be the same way in a few months time, only time will telll haha!! (Y) Xxx

Problem with racing is that you will always want to go a little bit faster :p

Once you open that door, say bye bye to your money haha.

All good fun though!

I'm under the impression it's the same with a show car though, cos again you're always going to want your car too look good with new parts etc and changing things here and there so I think it is already bye bye to my money.. I've just bought a rear lip, coilovers, paints, gear knob, wheel nuts, and a back box which all adds up.. now waiting for next months wage packet...

Is it worth starting a build thread?

Xxx

Cause it is. We love a build thread on here lol

Nope. Some on here are pretty much maintenance logs instead of build threads, if it's a civic then we want to see it pretty much

check out my members rides thread. I basically have different wheels and that's about it haha.

Doesn't have to be a clapped out civic :)

We appreciate any tidy car here. We're a good bunch. honest! :p

Let the spending begin! :drive:

Keep it bone stock for tracking, add on what is needed as you go along.
Pay as you go!

I'll have to give it a go and see what response I get I suppose :S haha!!
Keep an eye out for it ;)

If you want to go the 'race car' route, then I would suggest you buy a better base.

It would be far less hassle getting a VTI, as opposed to swapping/replacing parts on the EJ9.

I agree on this :D

If you can buy the thing you're trying to build,
buy it instead.

Don't waste money on the EJ9, maybe a set of coilovers you swap out when you upgrade to a faster model but that's it. Nice little motors sure, but they meant for gran to go get her shopping with, if you want to go fast save up the pennies and buy an EK4, it's a better all round package out of the box and honestly doesn't need anything more than a set of stiffer suspension (doesn't have to be coilovers) to be a hoot on track.

Bear in mind that a an engine swapped Civic is likely to have lost all it's trademark reliability. So many are unreliable shitheaps these days, you want something as lightly fettled as possible if you want to spend more time driving than maintaining it.

If i was in your position I'd save for an ek4. If you start modifying the ej9 it will drain every penny you have and you'll still have a lesser car.

i don't fully agree on that bit. dude i know had a b18c ej9, wilwood brakes, dampers and just drove his car in a dutch time attack series and won from the guys with eg6's and ek4's as base models for tracking.

it's what you can bring to the table as well...

At the end of the day, it's about making a connection with your car.
If you fall for your EJ9 and decide to work on it, that's the route you've decided to go down.

MAYBE the EK4 would be a better base for you, but maybe you'll turn the EJ9 into a track monster and put the doubters to rest? :)

Either way, the car is yours to do what you want to.

Go balls out (as best you can :p) on it and I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Just remember, a modified car becomes a lifestyle. Regardless if it's show or track.

Just enjoy it! :)

It's more about having fun with the track cars (unless actually racing)
Building is part of the fun aswell...
