I finally made the jump up, Over the past 3 years i have had 6 honda civics, 1.4 saloons to vti hatches to ils factlifts to 99 ferio Si's.... but i finally made the jump up....
A friend of mine had this diamond sitting in his garden for 5 months, he moved to Canada. So it's been off the road, I was in school with this guy from aged 4 and ive known him to look after any car he has had.
He was only the second owner of the car, and the guy who owned it before him imported it to ireland 7 years ago and was a Major dealer for BuddyClub parts here in Ireland. Hence why nearly everything on the car is buddyclub, from the wheels to the gear knob to the coilovers to the exhaust to the stickers.
I picked this up today for 2400 euros, its a 96 spec dc2 type R, now the condition of the body is near perfect.... it has a bit of dust and some slight weathering on it because its been out in the bad irish weather for a few months. but i think ive got a great bargain.
the engine has 181000KM on it and i know that this is genuine because the test certs all add up and i know my friend would not have messed around.
its by no means perfect of mint, but give me 2/3 months and i'll have it the way i want it...
first thing i started off with is the wheels, got rid of the 17 black buddy club ones and opted for a nice set of ITR 96Spec ones, just need to source a set of centre caps. The splitter is off being painted, and when that comes back its going straight on.
I also will be pulling off every sticker i can find, for obvious reasons, and i will be taking off the type R ones for now as well because they are fairly faded.
It's due a nice polish as well and i should have the colour back up and gleaming like it is supposed to be.
other things i want to do to get it looking the best is sort out the steering wheel, maybe get a CTR one to go there, also the front lights are a bit foggy, wouldnt mind picking up a set of nice new clearer ones. and then on the inside it just needs a bit of a clean!
but i must say i will miss the civic, it has been a car that i always relied on and felt i could rely on. But with my smaller budget and the great price of this car, i was drawn away and now will be dabbling in the world of Integras. A similiar yet so different way of life!
I attached a few photos of the car now, Keep an eye out because i will be upgrading a fair bit in the coming months!
