Hi all, had my car in storage for 2 years, just brought it out a few days ago, good to have her back!:drive:

Anyway, my problem is that the speedometer is bouncing all over the place.
Not 100% of the time, but never really know what speed I'm doing.

Took it to a mates place yesterday and tried out a tested VSS, and made no difference, both do the exact same thing.

I'm still running the P73 ECU and if I'm driving along and the speedo flings around to 120ish mph, the jap speed limiter will kick in and I'll lose all power, which is pretty dangerous if you are overtaking etc.

Before I start running new cables to the ECU, has anyone ever experienced this problem?

Thanks all....

Remove the converter all together and check the connections onto the VSS as these can corrode.

Cheers mate, done that already, cleaned terminals and put wd40 on them. No change.

Now this is strange, I tried it with the vss disconnected, sat in the car and gave it a rev, and the speedo still bounces around with the vss not connected! Weird!

check the green plug next to your ecu mine was not cliped in propley and the speedo used to go crazy like yours

I had an issue sort of like this. The previous Jap owner for some reason had scotch clipped another cable into the line from the ECU to the dash. Long story short this wasn't connected to anything and ended up shortening on the car body making the voltage jump about. Maybe there's something like that occurring?

Try a different VVS sensor. It's most likely that.

Tried another on that was proven to work fine and it done the same thing.

Then I unplugged it and it still bounces about when I give it a rev in neutral

Just tried adding a better earth to the Sensor and its doing the same thing.

check you grounds for the chassis. Then check the ground on the thermostat housing. That one is the more important for the ECU and Sensors. Then check fuse for the VSS and voltage to it.

th edizzy caused this in my car i changed it and it went back normal the igniter was gone

Could it be the dizzy? My ek was parked up for a long time and the speedo was all over the place when I took it for a spin. Just died a couple of days later and it was the dizzy that packed in
