i've just changed my brake lines with hel braided lines after one of my old lines developed a leak which resulted in the whole system draining of fluid. after fitting the new lines i bled the car in the sequence given (rl, rr, fr, fl) however now my brakes are spongy, the first press and the pedal goes almost to the floor but if you pump them fast the pedal gets incresed pressure. if you hold the brakes on the pedal does not fall to the floor which would indicate leak etc which i have checked for and found none. the car has also been to a garage for pressure bleeding and they couldn't figure out what is wrong. i have manually bled the brakes several times and there is absolutely no more air coming out, still though spongy brakes.
anyone have any ideas? do you have to bleed ABS or master cylinder seperately etc please help as i have absolutely no idea what is wrong.

Do you have new disks and pads? all calipers/carriers push back ok?
Was the master cylinder ran dry? Id bleed the master cylinder first to make sure.

Also make sure you have a clear pipe when bleeding so you can see any air and make sure it fits tight around the nipple.
Id redo the manual bleeding aswell. Pump it till hard and open the nipple once , pump then open it once (several times) You get a better flush of fluid/air instead of pumping several times when the nipple is open.

just bled the master cylinder and still spongy, rebled the brakes after aswell.

Hmm sounds strange that, normally just re-bleeding the brakes whilst someone else keeps the fluid topped up solves it in my experience, and if that doesn't work usually pressure bleeding with a pump, but you say the garage done this?

Dale.

If its not new pads & disks / sticky calliper or carriers and its really soft Id say the seal/s in the master cylinder are either flipped or perished.

:wow: For most that don't know about ABS brake systems some do infact need to be bleed in a correct procedure. Some systems (low model vechicle like honda v.s MERCEDES) don't need a bleeding seqence in there ABS units.

Which all of it is gay and I hate it all that is why I drive non-ABS vechicle ( except for 4 doors in the snow w/ the heat blowing :)) .

There is a valve on your ABS unit (pump) that has to be open or close (not to sure) while bleeding!

Your best bet is to get your owner manual or get info from your local dealership.

I bleed w/ RR-LR-RF-LF seqence starting w/ farest from the master cylinder!

1-If your doing it by yourself get a clear tube demenions like small vaccum line.
2-Fill a tall metal container no plastic w/ brake fluid. (unless you use the brake fluid bottle it self)
3-Crack the bleeder and put the line in till it reaches the bottom of the container.
4-Make sure your brake reservoir is full not over filled!
5-Now slowy press the pedal to the floor with a piece of 2x4 block to stop from any damage to the master cylinder.
6-Now hold the pedal for a few sec. (let the air bubbles go up to level)
7-Repeat till HAPPY :win:
8-Move on to next axle ect...
9-Check for leaks that make sure the your topped off!

THIS USUALLY FALLS FOR ABS UNITS AS WELL JUST FOLLOW PROCEDURES!!!
