After driiving with both of the throttle bodys, the Spoon greatly increased throttle response, since I have a cold air intake system, it was even better.

If you have the budget or can get one at a good price, I recommend this mod, install this mod, and go to the dyno with your stock and spoon throttle body to see the gains, in my country we don't have any dyno so we have to guess :(

Today I had in my hands 3 throttle bodies. I was able to measure the size them with the mechanic.

EK9 Honda Civic Type R B16B OEM Throttle body = 62 mm
JDM DC2 Integra Type R B18C OEM Throttle body = 65 mm
Spoon (First Gen) B Series Throttle Body = 68 mm.

Hope you find this information usefull! :woot:

sounds like you measured the inlet and not the outlet??

its best to measure the outlet as the factory tb has a taper bore, if you do youll find that the:

ctr is 60mm
the itr is 62mm
1st gen spoon is 62mm

the spoon unit has a larger taper bore of 68mm which helps increase air velocity and thats how it makes power :nice:

Get an ITR one and port it, thats what spoon sports do :nice:

You will spend no morethan 50 $ :woot:

no way, first you have to buy the itr tb, unless you mean he ports it himself? you can always by a AEBS 68mm :nice:

Well I ported mine with a friend, you're correct, he will need like 250 $ :(

The spoon retail price is about 600$ +

wow, i can prolly get an AEBs one for like 200 shipped to europe, they come in 62 64 and 68mm, we all use the 68 out here.

much cheaper to buy used itr tb and get it machined to required spec and sell your ek9 tb

spoon piece is just oem thats machined

any one running the skunk2 throttle body 70mm? like its only 300 dollars! kinda cheap compared to the spoon one.

Havin a look through the skunk website and think i mite order the inlet manifold, throttle body and decat!

All them together is like £350 sterling which is near enough of the spoon TB alone!

Spoon TB creates some kind of increase in velocity, I can't remember...

I have a Skunk2 Inlet manifold to go on, if I get the Skunk2 70mm tb will I have to get the inlet manifold modified to match it?

why dont you email skunk2 and ask them? or measure the bore of the manifold.

Just checked out their faq's on the website, looks like it will need to be bored out, they say you can do it yourself with a dremmel.. or get it done professionaly, dont fancy the dremmel route lol. On another Q & A a customer complains of poor idle when cold using the 70mm, they say ..for race application only & to let the engine warm properly. Maybe 68mm is best? If I am measuring mine correctly it looks like 62mm.

Description on the website says 'utilizes stock sensors 64mm Throttle Body Opening That Can Be Port Matched To 75mm' , obviously not measuring correctly eh

depends what you have, most people with street cars use 68 :nice: if you have like 220+whp then 70mm

i am in the middle of makin a fixture for boaring out the oem TB with a tappered boar!

anyone know what they are safe to boar out too?

anyone know were i can get a spare one cheap as a test piece?

itr 62mm can go to 70mm i believe, thats what spoon used to do, not sure about the b16b 60mm, ask rvm, he did it recently :nice:
