hi every1, i havnt been on here for ages. i am just wondering i have a stock ecu on my 2000 ek9 and i am wondering if you can remap it? also can u take it off the car and get it remaped if it can get done.
it would be great if anybody could give me some advice thanks.

no dude obd2b ecu can't be remapped, needs replaced with an aftermarket one e.g spoon ecu, power fc etc.

Well Lad How u?
Yep you can remap the ecu for example my race base R was remaped for irish fuel as our fuel has less octane than jap fuel. It is proven to be 193 bhp wit dis remap. Elmo has seen my car with da mugen airbox
However i replaced it for a mugen ecu. this cost me 700 euro and another 600to tune the engine!!! it is estimated to be pushing out 202bhp now. However thats alot of money for in honesty it didn make all that much of a diffrence, the only real diffrence i noticed was the vtec cut in at 5500 rpm instead of 6000 rpm and it delimits the car.
A remap wud cost you alot alswell. A better option would be to buy a VAFC:woot: This is a much cheaper option My bud bought an apexi one for his R for 250 second hand the vafc will let you play around and monitor it yourself! or just leave it as is! Honda reckon we shouldnt mess with there tuning as they have spent millions researching and developing there engines

i have never seen obd2b remapped, thats bollocks mate and as for a vafc, thats another peice of rubbish, get yourself a proper aftermarket ecu and don't listen to these people that say it can be remapped it can't.
for the record i also have a year 2000 car with an apexi power fc ecu.

What year thats was the race base?

I've only seen OBD2A ecu remapped, but it's very expensive.

I don't recommend VAFC or something similar (vtec controllers) since you control vtec point and other air/fuel ratio settings, but you don't control ignition, it's just too dangerous for my taste.

Returning to the topic of this thread, you can buy a OBD1 Ecu with a OBD2B to OBD1 conversion harness, this mod will be less expensive.

I recommend you check out this threads I wrote, you'll find some usefull information.

You can buy a ecu at a great price at www.pherable.net I bought mine there and I didn't have any problems at all. :D

thanks for all da info, everyone seems to have different opinions on which way to go weather its a vafc or a complete ecu and i am still really confused, wat do you guys think of the hondata s300 ecu my mate just got 1 for his integra just wondering wat you guys thought about it he payed $1400 for it, for that price is there anything better on the market? also i have the catalyst taken out my car and it is running very rich at the moment, i spoke to my tuner and he says i need a a/f unit im nt sure wat they look like or how much they are does anybody know thanks.

hondata s300 ecu is a good option, it all depends of your tuner, but you can't compare a VAFC to a complete "ecu" setup. I'll say you should buy a ecu that your tuner can tune, or if you don't have a tuner you should buy a chipped custom made ecu, In my case I don't have any tuner, so I bought one in www.phearable.net and based on my mods, that guy sent me a chipped ecu, I only got good results :drive:

I dnt know rvm im jus goin frm previous threads!!!

Lad u want ta fit a turbo from a scania truck for the ultimate mod!! Get a fannyflap ECu for ultimare power!! She'll be smoking then mate!!
:drive: :drive: :drive:

I was not that lucky, the ecu they gave me worked fine and all but on the dyno the car actually lost power and torque :(

Im still trying to find out if they will be able to make a map better or at least same the stock ecu had xD

Not worth getting an aftermarket ecu unless you have lots of mods (headwork/cams etc). For the money you would waste on buying and tuning, you could get a shorter gearset, where you really notice results. Not worth tuning a 1.6 engine unless you are going to spend LARGE amounts of money, my 2pence..

if you want to remap your car and be good as a hondata ecu for much less buy an obd1 ecu take it to a tuning shop that modifies ecu you need a conversion harness becarefull which one it is and remap it and it much less expensive and much better the obd2b cannot be modified!

I can highly recommend using eCtune in an OBD1 ECU & a conversion harness....

Thats the setup I have, & with a decent remap it works a treat:nice:
