Has any One replaced stem seals with the head still fitted. I have a b20vtec and really don't wanna fork out for another ge headgasket.
I've seen a few how to's but just wondering if anyone has tips. Like can the valves fall down once the springs released?

Yeah you can buy the tool to hold the valve stem through the intake or exhaust ports (need to take both manifolds off) , on whatever cylinder your working on keep the piston at TDC , so if the valve drops it wont fall out of the guides.

Saying that , Id still go and take the head off , your more likely to be 100% confident in your work that way.

Yeh I will take head off then. Do I need a spring retainer tool or is there another way?

You need a spring compressor to remove and fit the valve springs., dont use the hammer and socket approach if youve heard or read it. The compressors can be picked up cheap or get a lend off a mate if they have one.:nice:

I've seen the ones that look like a jig and the ones that you push down on like an impact driver. Can only find the jig ones tho. Which do people recommend.
Also struggling to find a ge 84mm gasket. These stem seals are becoming expensive. Lol
