Hey,am after a little advice,i've gotta 2000 ek9 t r,i was after a big old turbo conversion but after a few quote's realised i just ain't got the brass to do it properly have i'd want it so have got the dilemma of going with my b16b with spoon 1.8 stroker kit, crowler cam's,valve's,spring's etc or swappin it for k20!so any advice on either would be great, pro's and con's.it's my daily drive so it's gotta be realible but alot a fun at same time, thank's matt

Sorry forgot to put that it's already 200 bhp,lot's a toy's on it,j's mani,de cat,tanabe center and rear,aem fuel rail-long air ram,exedy stage 1 clutch,act fly,hondata s 300,skunk2 inlet and fuel pressure reg

Personally I would consider gearbox mods first before wasting any money on an engine upgrade that wont be that much better if you already have that 200. The highest EK9 at SRR was 176hp with only exhaust & filter so with a couple of other mods & a full tune anything is possible?

Depends on how much you pay for a different engine (box) ecu - when I was looking for a K20 I saw a couple of JDM, one at £1200 another £1600. We have seen the B18C done for as little as £600 (£1500 ish return on your old parts).
UKDM K20 estimate is 3.5 - 4.5k fitted at a garage - price varies on how mad you go with add ons.
JDM K20 4.5 - 5.5k - as above with add ons.
Good turbo setup - £5k ish.
All estimates of course..

Well not 200,it's 197.8 got print out after fittin s300 and a remap

Had quote for full race turbo kit,Erl block, full forged engine,m factor Lsd plus some other gear and remap and it was like 10 grand but totally bomb proof

Why's the 200 bhp raisin some eye brow's?there 185 stock so a extra 15 ain't alot,is it?!

For the same power going all motor you can triple the price, at least.

And stock may have been 185 bhp around 10 years ago but a more realistic figure now is 170 bhp'ish standard, remember to take the dyno print-outs with a pinch of salt.

At SRR - a conservative rolling road, all the EK9's were 165 - 170hp, a couple were worse, a couple more, as said - top was Matts 176hp.
Contact 'EK9TURBO' on here for a decent quote. 10k turbo is an ultimate setup & way over the top unless you are into some serious competition - 5k is good imo.

You can get the same performance as a stroked or K20a engine conversion by using a turbo for a hell of alot less than £10k as Haitch said above.

I've seen a K20a turbo set-up tuned to 1000 BHP for 15k by DMF performance, so a £10k turbo set-up is waaaay over-kill if you are thinking of a stroked set-up as an alternative.

True how turbo power is much cheaper... but not everyones taste.

Id prefer a Centrifugal Supercharger system on a honda Vtec engine. Much more reliable and pretty much same maintenance as a N/A motor.
