hi i noticed my car tapping on a cold start up it will tap and rattle for about 15 seconds and will settle down after that so im guessing its tappets. will this affect the power of the car much ?? allso were can i get info for doing the adjustment . i allso noticed some days my vtec cuts in hard and the car goes well other days the crossover is week and it doesn't do much could this be because of the tappets as i dont think they have ever been touched . thanks
 
Most cars would usually be a small bit tappy when cold anyway. If it disappears i wouldnt worry about it. you can always check it fairly easy when the car is cold. just get a 3 euro feeler gauge and whip off the rocker cover. as for your crossover sound likes some bad map on car or something.is it a standard ecu?
 
sounds like your lost motions might be worn out mate, if they loose their oil pressure overnight they will rattle on cold start up untill pressure builds up.
i had to replace mine after a cock up from honda (long story!) not hard to do, cost somewere between 300 and 400 quid for genuien ones.
