Hi guys, My mate has a 1.1 corsa. I checked his oil today and found that there was none:nono:. He said he had it at his house so i told him to go and top it up. He put all of the five liters in not knowing any better. After driving for around a mile smoke poured from the exhaust. What yous think this could be? i checked the level on the dipstick and found it was about two inches over the maximum.

I came to the conclusion that he has blown a seal of some sort. what do you guys think?

Thanks for the help.

Go easy on him, hes not mechanically minded at all and know nothing what goes on under the bonnet.

Its just overfilled & burning off the excess....

Id recommend doing a full oil change & setting it to the proper level. Should be fine once the residual has burnt off:nice:

dnt drive it to burn it off either full change or let sum out the sump! only thing is if its REALLY full then it can leak into the intake ie NOT GOOD!!!

um..... lol FUKED! nar might be ok but too much is jus as bad as none uno wat im sayin, it cud mean internals need cleanin or seals replacing but the least will prob be a big carbon build up in throttle body intake mani! jus thinkin 1.1 corsa prob be a pre 95 might not be worth repairin if its bad fingers crossed 4ur m8! easy

Shouldn the main questio here be what happened to all the engine oil in the first place!
Like has he been using it as a daily drive! Surely the car would be badly damaged running on such low oil levels

EXACTLY!!! however as stated he ant machanicly minded i mean i ant really but u jus learn dnt ya! wel suprissing wat ur get away wid i mean wid low oil it will affect the general runnin of the engine where its not properly lubricated but like u say depends on how long and how much its bin driven but damage is most probally done by now no point losin sleep i guess!!:)

If it goes really wrong (maybe it already happend), oil could get pushed through the pistonrings and they might be leaking (severly) now. Best and actually only safe option is to let some oil out by taking out the carterbolt. DON'T DRIVE IT!!

Changed the oil, filled it back up to maximum. Took it for a run. Only a little bit of smoke now. It doesn't really matter because its close to the scrappy anyway lol.

If he's drained the oil to the correct level now, after driving around for a while it should be fine. He's just over filled the engine oil which has then got into the cylinders and then fired out the exhaust system.
