hey guys; i know the psssssshhh sound sounded really cool; seems like my NA engine b16a has a bolt on turbo or something; but i m afraid it might be a sign of failure or something?

it goes like tis; ehm..

at any gear; revving to 8k rpm n releasing the throttle will give a sound pppsssshhhhh...

aNy idea?? i double; triple check the exos; the sound aint coming from the exos; look @ undercarriage; no leaks; tried to follow the pssshh sound; we ended up back @ the engine bay.

hearing REALLY closely; it seems like its from the engine itself!. right under the cam cover

my exos is really LOUD so; its kinda difficult to pin point the exact location but even tho i still can hear it.

anyone here experience this b4??

u sure?? cos i've been driving around for quite awhile; tis is the first time i m hearing it :S

i've recently service the engine head; not sure if that could be the issue there. change the valve seals only.

my b16b did it when i was NA, every time i pressed the clutch at high rpm and let off throttle i heard psh

have you checked all your breather pipes pcv valve etc, is everything put back together correctly since having the head off?
have seen crank case compression cause air to blow out from the cam cover gasket due to messed up/blocked breathers.:shocked:altho this was not on a b series.

blinx; so it is normal to you?? tat woosshhhpsshhh sound? any idea wat cause tat sound on ur engine?

OK; lets do say my engine is giving a problem n made tat noise; IF i was to dyno; i will see a drop in engine power or something right? cos i know my previous dyno runs; so if i was to compared i guess i can see some difference.

i check again on the cam head cover around the sides. no oil leaks or anything. clean :)

@ b16mini; i have check my pipes n all the PCV valve was a little loose; i tighten it with a clip; but the sound is still there.. when the pcv hose was leaking can hear a ssshhhh, but its totally different from this wooosh :p

my password jdm power chamber does the same thing...
it's normal don't worry about it, enjoy it!

serious?? man.. its kinda freaking me out in a way tho i really LOVE TAT sound :D

since u'r having the sound as well; is the sound coming out from the engine??? or the sound coming from the chamber kit? cos mine seems like coming out directly from the engine. or surrounding radius area.

It's password jdm's copy of the J's Racing Intake (Whale *****)
I know it's from the intake b/c every time i accelerate or punch it. i hear that noise creeping...
You should record a sound/video clip, to further help you out.

ehh.. i dont have a good cam recorded here ; only my w810i
the sound isnt clear enough thru all that noise plus my exos is so bloody loud.

its like some high pressure built up suddenly being release.

i wish i can drive my car up to u guys n let u listen; my mech is deaf he cant hear it at all LOL.

We need a video, but I think the sound is normal :)

i borrow my fren's camera to vid
but its still kinda loud n lots of noise.. soo ehh.. i dont tink u can hear it; mebbe i'll try another one @ neutral

My engine (B16A2 - EK4) made that sound for a while after replacing timing belt, tensioner and water pump.

I assumed the belt wasn't tensioned correctly. I was going to retention it a few days later and the noise just disappeared

It's been around 5,000klms since and the noise hasn't come back.

I assume you replaced the timing belt and tensioner when you serviced your cylinder head?

Just noticed this thread. My car does this too. I assumed it was the decat pipe. Cant tell for sure tho.

This sounds weird as, does it only happen over certain rpm or just any time you shift gear.
I'd guess the rocking of the engine when the clutch is engaged is producing this noise, have you fitted any cable ties etc any time recently etc?? what sort of shape are your engine mounts in?
you could try get a mate and shake the **** out if the engine back and forward (prepare to sweat) and see if there's anything hitting or catching, probably something simple but no doubt going to be a pain to find. Just think what has changed recently, what have you had off and have you double checked it's all refitted snug, and have you added anthing new?
