As above. If this has already been covered a million times, my sincerest apologies but search on my phone at work is baws. Basically, as above! You obviously get kits like the race-tech one which gets good reviews but can you build a semi decent kit (for around 320-330bhp) for less? My car already has Hondata S300, 440cc injectors, aem fuel rail and fpr and an uprated fuel pump. Seems its just the kit, an oil feed to the sump and mapping I need. So is it best to go with something like the race tech or can it be done cheaper buying the mani, turbo and intercooler separately? Engine is a stock b16a2 so don't want to go too crazy just yet :)

yea you can mate. i built a kit for my ek9 for around 1000£.and it makes 317hp. by the sounds of it you already have alot of bits and peices needed.:)

I bought mine in bits instead of a kit,I never totalled mine up but id hazard a guess at under 1.5k. I made my own downpipe and screamer so saved abit there.
The turbo will be the most expensive bit, i was lucky enough to buy mine for 2nd hand prices but it was brand new and unused.

Also your 440s wont support your power goals.

All you really need is mani, turbo, downpipe, intercooler, oil feed and drain lines.

Thanks Lyle :)

Murray, I expected that  Is your total including management etc?

That estimated total was when i 1st converted my car back in 08. I was running BRE managment at the time which is free.
In theory you could have a turbo charged car for less than 500 pound if you Ebayed enough:lol:

If only  There's loads of different things on eBay, but I don't have the faintest clue what goes with which really! Would a td05 be ok from say an evo6? Naturally I'll also need the manifold to go with that!

I have built mine in bits, already had S300 and fpr for b20. All i got was manifold, turbo, down-pipe, wastegate and screamer pipe, walbro fuel pump, RC 550 injectors, and intercooler kit. Some of the stuff was second hand so wasn't too dear, so in total its cost me just over £1000.

But fitted all parts today and i need down pipe and screamer pipe modified, and of course will need it mapped, just wee things to sort out.

Try and get a decent turbo tho, stay away from ebay ones. I got a proper Garrett T3 of ebay but it needed reconditioned, but its like new now lol.

TD05 would be fine, am sure thats what they use on the race-tech kit, but as u say need to find decent manifold to suit it

Evo TD05 are twin scroll so you need a manifold to suit... the RaceTech kits are based on this turbo... tbh ya cant go far wrong with racetech, I picked my RaceTech up 2nd hand, fair few of them about these days at good prices.

If its ya first build, I'd buy a complete kit.
