question: if you change the RAM, can you watch high quality videos? or Play some games faster? tried them bought but they played slower and sometimes it freeze...

if yes, i need to change mine....i only have 512 mb right now....
do you guys have any suggestion for a good RAM...

Well, first be sure of what kind of RAM your system takes. Then from there, my suggestion is always Corsair RAM, particularly XMS series if it's within your budget.

Often though, RAM won't make as big of an impact in games in the framerate department as the CPU or Video card will but with the catastrophically low amount of RAM you have, I'd upgrade it first. Video. Well if you're talkin playin HD h.264 video, then a better video card or processor is your best bet but really, I've had a laptop with an Intel Celeron 440M with Intel 945G integrated graphics (complete garbage graphics) that could actually run h.264 video at 720p (but couldn't run the original Half-Life above 40FPS). I've also had another more powerful laptop that could NOT play the exact same videos correctly (part of why I sold it).

hhmmm... ok, how i will now what kind of RAM my computer can take? do i really need to go to a computer shop, and bring my computer in....or i can just open my pc and now it from there?

well, i played some video like 1440x810 and yeah, it played but slowly....
might as well change the processor....any suggestions?

one more thing, where can i find the motherboard model? do i need the info for the processor too?

First off, download and run CPU-Z. It should be able to list exactly what processor you have, what model motherboard as well as what motherboard chipset you have, what type of RAM you are using and what video card you have.

Once you've run that, tell me what CPU it reports, what motherboard model and chipset it reports, and what type of RAM it reports. It'd also be good to know what video card you have.

Here's a link: http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpuz/cpuz_152.zip

Just unzip the folder and run the .EXE.

CPUZ ftw, i like there temp monitor program also :nice: Kagetora maybe time for a new machine all together?

I agree, I currently have 8 gig of ram and I got the 4 2gb sticks for 99$ !

I think you can now build a good computer for like 500 $

That's what I was thinking if he only had 512MB of RAM. I've had 4GB of RAM for almost 2 years.

CPU:
Name: Intel Pentium 4
Code Name: Northwood
Brand ID: 9
Package: Socket 478 mPGA
Specification Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz

Motherboard:
Manufacturer: Seanix
Model: MS-6533
Chipset: SiS 651

Memory:
Type: DDR
Size: 512 MBytes

Graphics:
ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series

I'm gonna need you to run CPU-Z again and go into the SPD tab. Tell me what Max Bandwidth says.

Cause as far as I know PC2300 doesn't exist and it wouldn't be slower than PC2100.
