I have had to bypass my vtec pressure switch to run my b20vtec, so I have fitted an oil pressure gauge so I can keep an eye on it. Does anyone know what my pressure should be before I safely use vtec as with no switch my vtec works from start. Any help?

Thank you vtec6000.
Will/should it change as the car warms up or when i accelerate?

When the oil warms up it will flow better. The grade of oil your using can also effect pressure. Its been awhile since I used a gauge to check oil pressure but if I rememeber correctly a b16a was making a little above 2bar on idle and once revving past 3-4k rpm it was up in the region of 4bar which is roughly 60psi.

I just checked mine and at cold idle it was 50psi the once warmed it dropped to 15psi and over 3k it went upto 40psi, this was stationary as my car has no tax lol. does that show signs of any problems to you dude?

What grade oil you using? Have you checked oil level? Where have you taken your oil press. line off the engine?

Im using helix 10w-40. I have t-peiced off the pressure switch. Ive not long finished the engine so it has been topped up with oil and only driven a few times, but i will check the oil level.

Cheers m8, yeh that seems to be the norm. Gonna have to trouble shoot when i get the chance, i do have a feeling my oil level is low so thats gonna be 1st!
