Did I miss the memo somewhere saying that you now need 100 posts to view/post in the want to buy forum? Slightly annoying as I posted in there only a few days ago needing some CV boots :angry2:

Just a guess but if it has happened it will be to stop people with very little posts or people who have just joined trying to sell there stuff on there.
Good idea IMO but obviously there are some exceptions

it has been talked about for a long time! glad to see it introduced. should hopefully stop alot of scammers and people joining up to just sell stuff! You'll get 40 posts in no time...

Yes we introduced this yesterday as we have been keeping an eye on the "want to buy" forum and found that people who don't have enough posts to use the for sale section are using this section as a loophole to get round that.
It may be annoying for the users who don't have 100 posts but in my opinion even if we prevent 1 person from being scammed its a small price to pay.
Just looking out for our members as sadly scammers are out there...

Regards.

Mod team.

What if someone wanted to start a thread for something they want to buy and didn't have the 100 post count? Would a mod be able to put the thread up for them or would they have to wait till they get a 100 posts?

A 100 post count is now required to use that section of the forum sadly mate, as i say we know its frustrating but there were a number of cases in the last few days of people joining the forum just to try and flog stuff in the want to buy section. The most effective way of combating this problem is to enforce the post count.
After introducing the 250 post count to the for sale section the number of spam/scammers dropped dramatically and has proved very successful, with that in mind we have decided that the post count would be best.

kinda sucks as the reason I joined in the first place was to buy parts to help me pass MOT. 8 months ago I would've been **** out of luck (other than searching through the endless for sale section), or at least it would've taken more time. I guess if there are enough scammers to warrant this, then the MODs are making the right decision. We don't get to see how many PM's they receive daily about crappy sellers.

I suggest that if people WTB stuff, and don't have 100 posts, look in the Vendor Market Place. They are legit businesses and depend on proper service. Ended up buying my items for MOT from Vendors who replied to my WTB post anyways =)

Well said man.
We do work hard behind the scenes on here keeping the forum as clean and tidy as it is and due to this the number of scammers/spammers has dropped dramatically in the last couple months due to us stepping up the security on the site. That was not the only problem though, one of the main reasons this forum is as popular as it is is the community we have on here and people just joining the forum to abuse the for sale section etc is frowned upon and always has been. If people are joining the forum because of a genuine interest in the cars etc then they should hopefully have no problem with the rules that are in place.

If anyone else has any opinions or anything please let us know :D

Seriously? It has been explained 3-4 times in this topic already, I suggest you read the whol topic again. And if you still don't get it, please tell us what part of it you don't understand.

I don't understand why we're not allowed on?

LOL, seriously, just read the post above you, takes all of 20 seconds and it explains why.

Anyway, i don't have a problem with the measures in place - I just wish it had been announced somewhere more publicly - I have been looking through various sections of this forum for sometime and I don't remember seeing anything obvious?!

Yeah suppose thats true, we should have fired a thread up about it to inform everyone of the change.
