i have a 97 ek9 bought it a few months ago..just wonderin is there any major things i should look for engine wise seeing as its so old??rings and seals and so on??might be a stupid question but id rather not do any serious damage..
 
There are alot of things u can check to make sure its ok. make sure you keep on top of the oil and do regular oil and filter changes, clean the IACV, check earth wires are all intact, check cam seals as they sometimes leak and thermostat is a common thing to change if it aint been done already. General maintenance like plugs, leads, distributor cap and rotor arm and maybe fuel filter.

Also check the inner rear quarter for rust by removing the rear speakers, check under front wings for rust and get the underneath waxoyled and check behind bumpers. These are all common problems if its not been previously looked after. There are threads of all the above I have mentioned so use the search function and you will find it all mate. good luck! :)
