wich camera do u guys prefer when it comes to spending atleast $500 usdollars
NIKON,CANON please give me any inputs on wich one is better im trying to buy one but im not sure wich one is better.. thanx

"At least $500" doesn't say much, the more you put in, the more options you'll have. Until you get to the price ranges where there aren't many options. :D

If you have to ask, then you haven't defined your needs and priorities, which leads me to believe either one of them will suit you just fine as a starter camera. I'm using a Canon 50D and a 5D MkII myself, and I'm very pleased with them. However, it seems that Nikon on an average produce lenses with better quality compared to the similarly priced Canon units.

I don't know this for a fact (and I can't be bothered to check), but it looks like Canon cameras have a wider range of optics to choose from. Either way, you'll be happy with either brand. But I'd suggest you go for a full-frame camera unless you're planning on doing bird photography or something else that requires a ridiculous amount of zooming.

Just my two cents. :)

Just go for a canon or Nikon, I used to have 4/3 system and I would not recommend that the sensor is too small. I shoot Nikon now and I'm very happy with it, my friend has a canon and is happy with that, you can't go wrong with either of them. For Nikon get the 18-55 vr g lens, its ridiculously cheap and surprisingly good. If you get a body with internal focusing motor like d90 or d7000 you will gain access to loads of old d series lenses from the 90's which can be picked up cheap on eBay and many are still good, I have couple myself.

Canon all the way for me, 550D 600D or 650D (not sure what your prices are like in the states) with a basic lens kit to get you started.

Then save up for nice fast lens or maybe get a 50mm if your on a budget.

It can depend on what your budget is and whether or may want to upgrade in the future. I reckon Canon offer the better budget DSLRs at the moment but theres not much to choose between them otherwise. I personally use a Nikon D40 and a Nikon D90 when using a DSLR. I have to say that for general shooting out of those two I prefer the D40. The D90 is capable of taking better pics but requires much more setting up and bit more trial and error to get better results, otherwise it can look a fair bit worse to be honest

I have a canon 650d, awesome bit of kit, still getting the hang of it but i love the quality and functions of it

Canon or Nikon DSLR;
Nikon if you know how to use a camera.
Canon if you new to camera, they tend to automate more functions.

But these are not low cost camera; DSLR's.

Im happy with my Nikon d5100
