I am getting sick to the back teeth of the Tanabe SMR system on my EK4, it just will not fit properly! I have to check in at the local garage about once a month to have everything tightened up again, more exhaust sealant added etc. This is really starting to grip my sh!t now, for something that costs so much, shouldn't the bloody thing just fit properly? I was of the impression that Tanabe were a well known brand, I'm beginning to doubt this now and am starting to rate them as some cheapo knock off backstreet monkeys.

It just keeps working it's self loose, knocking loudly on the underside of the car when travelling down less than smooth roads, rattling on the subframe, it touches the rear ARB permenantely sending high frequency vibrations through the cockpit all the time, and now, it's just started blowing from the decat pipe AGAIN.

I am seriously ****ed off with this, DO NOT BUY THESE SYSTEMS, THEY ARE CRAP.

That is all.

man, that sucks, how are the sections of exhaust joined together??

i use to have a SMR too and had the same problems! mine was down to a ill fitting custom decat! all the piping needs to be spot on when fitted and making sure the back box is sittin where is should be before the decat bolting up!also ask for some grommets puttin on over your hangers once its fitted propery to stop it from slidin around on the rubbers! also your heatshield under the gear stick may be fouling to?try taking this off?

hope this helps?

Usual flanges as far as I know. From what I can see, the exhaust sits too far forward, but the decat fitted is the longer UK spec Funkypower item, not the shorter JDM spec which I thought may have been causng the problems initially.

chopping up the de cat and moving everything forward a bit may be the solution then:nice:

why not just use some lock washers and a tighten everything down with an impact gun to a 100lb of force, i promise you it will not come loose.
