Hello there! ive got the opportunity to buy my mates "act" alloys for a very good price, they need refurbing but are 195/55/15 on the front and 205/55/15 on the back, will this create any handling problems if i do buy them? and is it best to have the wider alloys at the back? pics below, sorry if its been covered before

Thanks Alex

That's only the tyre size. Put the bigger ones on the front.

^^^^ no mate is the wideness of the rime/tyre put the wider ones at the back otherwise u have to use spacers if u put it on the front

your an idiot!

Why is that mate please clarifying. I said what I said above because I for 205/50/16 on my civic ek and when u full lock the steering it rubs the arches, but the back seems perfect.

That's a bigger wheel, no detail of offset, lowering or anything else that could affect it, I run 205s quite happily on mine. Some guys in the states run 225, 235 and sometimes even bigger.

With P6000s up front, putting wider tyres at the back will be a masterclass in understeer.

That number IS only in reference to the tyre by the way, you could run a 205 on anything from a 6" to an 8" wheel.

well because what the guy has listed is just the tyre dimensions. I happily run 215's or 225's and no rubbing with 16's and lowered a good bit. It all depends on the offset of the actual alloy not the tyre. and a wider track is prefered at the front, not the rear as it give the car greater stability! :secret: sorry for being sharp however. :((

I agree it will cause understeer but like I said 205/50/16 rubs like **** in the front so id Imagen 205/50/15 would rub too but not too much. As for 225 235 id Imagen they role the arches and use spacers and adjustable camber arms. And to the original question try the rims out on your car first and then make a valid decision.

I guess I got really **** offset on may then, I have some mg zr hairpin alloys.

To the OP from closer inspection of those pictures it appears those tyres are quite old and starting to perish on the side walls! I personnely wouldn't run tyres in that condition and would seriously consider binning them of a new set of tyres! look closely at them before you offer money!

Well no it isn't real low and the offset is 6.5j and they are just too wide as in the front they rub the black plastic mud guards when u go over humps around 25 miles an hour and it rubs the side when you full lock and spacers make it even worse by helping it rub against the wing.

Sorry for shiting on your thread mate.

Thanks for the help people! im getting the alloys refubed and since taking the photos my mate has put new tyres on the front and i will replace the backs too, as they are pretty perished!! il try them out and see if they rub!

cheers:)

Alex
