Will an EK9 subframe fit into an EJ9?

Hi all,

I've got a B18C EJ9 and was wondering if fitting an ek9 subframe is a straight bolt on job?
The EJ9 is a pre-facelift model. The only reason why i'm looking to this is because I've found an EK9 steering rack to fit my car but it's being sold with the subframe.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

The sub frames are all interchangeable but the ek9 rack ratio is no tighter than the ej9. All ek' s have the same ratio, so it'd be no advantage to change.

An eg sub frame with eg wish bones and an 98 spec type r rack is the way you want to go and is a direct bolt in. What you need is eg/dc2 subframe, eg/dc2 lower wish bones, eg/dc2 lower shock forks, eg/dc2 rear engine mount bracket and 98 spec Integra type r rack.

Hmm that's interesting, i was under the impression the ek9 rack ratio was tighter/shorter and that's why I'm looking to change it in the first place. I've also read that many people on the forum have done it and commented on it's improvements. Really curious to know if anyone has done a b18c swap into an EJ9 with an ek9 subframe.

In my experience there is no difference and it's a mod I've done to a good ek's for rallying. It also could be that the actual length of the ek9 rack gear is shorter, which would make it feel like a quick ratio because you have less rotation from lock to lock where in reality it's just a case that you have less travel in the bar, and therefore less steering angle but it's actually the same ratio.

I changed my ej9 rack to an ek9 rack and it was the best mod I did for the handling honestly makes such a difference. Also the subframe just bolted straight on.

Hi,

What engine do you have? Is it the standard d14 or do you have a b18? Did you have to swap the LCAs etc...?

Thanks.

It's a b16a2 now but when we first fitted it d14, I don't think my Lcas were changed. I'm pretty sure we just bolted it on with a ek9 ARB as well

Thank you for that, some very valuable information. I was thinking of the just fitting the steering rack but might fit the subframe now too. Do you have a rear ARB?
