hey guys, jus looking to find out what the 01 wrx impezza is boosting at standard, if anyone knows it be much appreciated???

thanks lad, wud do any harm if it was mapped nd running at 1.2 with no modifications bar exhaust nd filter

Wouldn't do any harm if mapped for it but if on standard turbo its going to hard to hold out that kind of boost so you may find it falling back to 1bar past 4-5k rpm

TD04?

They can run 1.4 bar no problem. Why do you say it may not hold?

Also what boost can the stock internals stand?

It's a TD04 but has a relatively small compressor wheel. From guys I know who got their wrx mapped were running peak 1.3 but dropping back to near 1.0-1.1bar at high rpm which seems to be the common as the turbo wasn't designed to hold that level of boost. In terms of boost pressure it's irrelevant to how much the block can withstand, more so to do with how much air(cfm) the turbo is flowing and power been produced in which case I have no idea what the limits are on a wrx block. The Sti 8 block I have in my own has be proven good to 450bhp with supporting turbo, injectors etc.

The turbo is a common upgrade on the starlets and with forged internals they push them up to 1.6Bar on hold pretty steady through to 7K+RPM...

When i said how much boost pressure i mean the stock internals of the block i.e pistons/rods/bolts etc......

There is normally a general rule on how much boost you can safely run through engines before melting pistons etc. The 4EFTE internals dont like much more then 1.1bar, the 3SGTE motor doesnt like more then 1.1 either.

I was just wondering what level of boost on the stock WRX engine before problems start.

But yeah you are right, its not exactly the pressure its the volume of air/power. The boost is a decent enough guideline though.

The turbo would hold out better on the starlets cause there a smaller engine i.e less air needed to fill cylinders per stroke.

thanks for all the info lads bein a great help, this car jus hs a cat back exhaust and a boost controller, it came in from japan boosting @1.2 so id say its good to go?

Should be ok. Standard boost cut is 1.25 of stock ecu iirc. Keep octane booster in it or run E5 petrol to limit the risk of det.
