Hi guys,

I'm planning on buying a Yamaha YZF R125. Anyone on here got one?

I've joined a forum... yamahar125.com and am the moderator for the Ireland forum. It's a very good forum and would recommend it to anyone with one of these.

Nice looking bike. What kind of top speed can they reach? Considered a Honda NSR125? there good bikes and real nippy once the power valve comes in

One of the guys at work has got one of these... highly recommended for what it is ;)

According to reports, it has a top speed of around 130km/h. This will be my first bike, and from the forums i've been on, i've been told the R125 is cheaper and easier to ensure than the NSR125.

Seems like a lot to spend on a 125 if you ask me...

I am planning to buy this bike after christmas, i'm looking at buying an 08 model and from looking at how much they are at the moment I would be expecting to pay between €2500 and €3000(£2,100 and £2600) which I think is fairly good for a 08, low mileage bike that will hold its value...:D

havin ridin them both i wouls say that the yamaha out prefroms the honda....but in relation to insurance your looking at the same price...also they are a bit on the expensive side

but you pay for good quality

In Ireland, the NSR is category 7 insurance because its 2 stroke, as apposed to the R125 which is 4 stroke and category 5 insurance.

But, yes, you definately pay for quality:nice:

Think he may have been talking about the new nsr125 which I think are now called cbr125? there a 4 stroke 125cc like the R125. The old NSR125r 2 stroke bikes are very fast for there size of engine. 0-60 ~7sec:shocked: but as you said insurance will be alot higher. The yamaha looks a nice bike.

Yes yamaha is by far the nicer bike....but if you have an interest in bikes and dont mind the regular service i would consider the aprilia rs125, they are a bit more expensive, but it is a very fast 2 stroke bike topping out at about 160kph.....people will critize it for it reliability thou

Ye i've looked at both the CBR 125 and the aprilla rs125, but i'm gonna go with the yamaha because i think its better looking than the CBR, and more reliable and cheaper to insure than the aprilla(aprilla is category 7, yamaha category 5).

I don't mind the difference in speed between them as I only plan to keep the bike for a year or so untill I pass my test and am able to buy something bigger. :naughty:

See attached :D
